A new option for some Pizza Hut customers will be monitored closely by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

In these days of a questionable economy entrepreneurs will look for ways to increase the bottom line.

One local franchise hopes some folks will opt to drink outside the box.

The Wingstreet Pizza Hut at Hillside and Coulter has begun a test delivery service that will include beer.

The delivery test will only occur in a small trade area, but some customers will be able to have beer delivered to their home with their pizza.

TABC officials say the person delivering the beer and the retailer will be responsible for ensuring that minors will not be able to make a purchase.

"You know we do minor stings in the city and this, we could do that on this to verify that they're compliant. Other than that we'll have to monitor it to see if there's any complaints," says Dennie Carlton of the TABC.

TABC officials also say the person delivering the beer must be over 18.

The retailer must also adhere to the time constraints indicated on the permit and must not deliver in dry areas.

It just sounds like desperation on the part of Pizza Hut.

Hell yeah. If they ever do this in my area, I would so order beer with my pizza. It'll be especially handy for a late-night craving and the liquor stores are closed. Ha.

Only in Texas, it has not yet happened in other parts of the country

Yeah, but I wouldn't be surprised if it spreads to the other states soon.

It would seem highly logical to me that since Brian is the one that started this topic he would be well aware of that.

Yes, but the way Brian said it implied that beer was being delivered at Pizza
Hut nationally and I just wanted to correct him on that.

While I understand the concept, I don't approve of it.

If you're legally old enough to drink, why not buy your own beer separately, then order the pizza?

Liquor store hours differ in every state. What if you want pizza at 10pm, but the store is closed by then? Ta-da.

Plus, I know liquor stores in most states are closed on Sundays so if beer delivery on Sunday is an option, even better.

Even at the grocery store, it's a hassle buying beer on Sundays. (I don't drink, but I was there to get a case for my dad for his birthday.)

Frankly, I don't care who delivers my food as long as it gets to my place in a reasonable time; at least no more than an hour upon placing the call.

Strippers wouldn't hurt though.

I'd rather mine be delivered in a hazmat suit with the bag of weed. :p
