Osbourne Show In Jeopardy After Outrage
2 April 2009 5:15 AM, PDT

The future of The Osbournes' new variety TV show has been thrown into jeopardy after its troublesome U.S. debut on Tuesday (01Apr) night - the programme doesn't have another scheduled air date.

The show, which comes seven years after the family first shot to TV fame, sees the Osbournes take on the variety format, and contains the foul-mouthed rants and expletives which became the family's trademark.

But the Osbournes: Reloaded faced contention even before it hit the airwaves - when bosses at Fox network's Florida affiliate Wpgx refused to screen the programme, insisting it was too lewd for viewers.

And it seems other local American broadcasters followed suit, with 11 per cent of U.S. viewers unable to catch the show's debut after network bosses vetoed the racy programme.

Bosses at Milwaukee Fox affiliate Witi-tv were hesitant about screening the show straight after family-friendly American Idol, and chose to air the Osbournes: Reloaded at 1 a.m. (Cdt) the following day (Wed02Apr09).

But officials at Fox headquarters can't understand the furore surrounding the episode - insisting it went through all the necessary industry checks.

A rep for Fox tells WENN, "Osbournes: Reloaded was thoroughly vetted by our Standards and Practices department to ensure it was appropriate for broadcast during the scheduled time period.

"If any network affiliate feels the programming may be inappropriate for its individual market, however, it has the right to preempt the program."

Despite the negative press, the rock n' roll clan can still celebrate - Osbournes: Reloaded pulled in an average of 9.3 million viewers.

A spokesperson for the Osbourne family refused to comment.

Doesn't really surprise me. I caught the show and had been looking forward to it, but it wasn't that great.

The best thing about it was seeing Ozzy actually lucid for a change. ;)

Stations Opted Out Of Carrying Osbournes
2 April 2009 2:34 AM, PDT

One of the reasons that Osbournes: Reloaded produced disappointing ratings on Fox Tuesday night -- despite airing after American Idol -- may have been related to the fact that "dozens" of stations in markets as large as Milwaukee refused to air it or aired it late at night.

Broadcasting & Cable reported Wednesday that many of those stations based their decision on a screener that was sent to them by Fox, which included a scene featuring a stripteasing grandmother in silhouette.

The scene however did not make it into the actual broadcast.

"After seeing the clips we felt the Osbournes was not the right programming to follow family-friendly American Idol", WGHP Greensboro President/General Manager Karen Adams told the trade publication.

Her station aired the episode after midnight.

From the previews, the show looked crass and mean-spirited... much like the Osbournes themselves!

Has anyone heard what is happening with the current status of this show?

Has it been offically canned?

I have no idea.

I've been trying to look into it and I haven't found anything.

I think I can say that at this point Osbournes: Reloaded will not be coming back and that this will go down in history as one of the few shows to be canned after the first aired episode.

Ha!... I don't know.

A short time ago didn't Rosie O'Donnell try to make a comeback with a variety show and that got canned after one airing too? I think it was Rosie Live! or something like that.

I saw it only while changing channels. Believe me, we didn't miss much unless you're into seeing Rosie in a black tux trimmed with silver sequins and acting like the "ring master" at a circus.

Come to think of it, she could have used the same outfit for The View....

I watched it recently; someone uploaded the only aired episode of Osbournes: Reloaded on YouTube.

It wasn't anything good at all but I'm just saying the episode is on YouTube if anyone's interested in seeing what this was.
