View Full Version : TV Land Boycott!
Hughsgirl 04-01-2009, 09:48 AM I wanted to bring to everyone's attention that I think we should do a TV Land Boycott UNTIL we get LITB on a regular schedule!! They are showing all Andy Griffith and that dumb High School Reunion show and not enough of LITB! As a big fan of this show, I have had enough of their BS with dragging their feet on bringing out the next season on DVD and now TV Land won't respect it enough to show at least one episode a night but they don't mind doing blocks galore of Andy Griffith!

JudgeGarth 04-01-2009, 11:12 AM I haven't watched TVLand in years. I don't know what they have on there.
MickeyMac 04-01-2009, 12:43 PM Only problem here is that TVLand takes out anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes of the original episodes to make way for more commercials. I dont think TVLand cared about how they once were anymore. Sad but true.

Exactly! You can't get the plot of the show anymore because they have edited out so much. I haven't watched in years either and don't plan to. There are other cable channels showing good classic shows so I stopped with TV Land completely. If others would do the same, maybe the programming would get better, maybe not.
OH Nuts! 04-02-2009, 12:56 AM TV Land is often (very often) a big disapointment. I'll take my store bought DVDs anyday so I can see what I want when I want!

Well stated! I feel the same way. I'm glad I have the dvds.
ponytail 04-02-2009, 06:45 AM I don't care much for TVLand anymore. We have a new channel here in AZ call Retro Network and it shows LITB and Adam-12, Dragnet, Magnum P.I. and others.

But sadly you can't say the same for LITB seasons 3-6.

Not sure why your mad at TV Land for the LITB DVDs, they have nothing to do with it. For TV Land, you should be more upset that the episodes are being chopped up- I hadn't watched LITB in awhile then when I decided to watch the episode where Beaver gets pigeons- but seeing a whole scene left out I stopped watching.

Hughsgirl I agree with you 100%. I have been complaining about this at home for the longest time. They always air Andy Griffith when the entire series is on dvd. LITB does not even have a certain time slot. You catch it when you catch it. I loved it when they aired it Mon-Fri at 5:00 and 5:30. Two sets of dvd's only goes so far.
MickeyMac 04-02-2009, 07:40 PM I for one would love to see TVLand return to the way they once were, and show classic undedited episodes, but it seems their bad reality shows have an audience, so they will probably continue on this tread.
TVFactFan 04-02-2009, 08:29 PM That's always been the crazy thing about TV LAND, they air tv shows that are already complete on DVD like
Sanford and Son, Andy Griffith, and Good Times. What about creating room for shows on the schedule that is not on DVD?
gidgetgrape 04-02-2009, 09:26 PM I feel like I'm already boycotting TVLand because I hardly ever watch it anymore. I LOVE LITB and would like to see it (and other b&w shows) on regularly.

I know TV Land has nothing to do with the releases of DVD's, I just happened to bring that out in my post. I have also e-mailed Universal and any DVD company I can think of about getting an answer for a release to no avail and it's frustrating as hell. I also hate the chopped up episodes, but I will take that over nothing until they decide to bring out the remaining seasons if that ever happens.

Thanks. And btw SHOUT! is having some really great releases rolling out. Just got Saason 1 of Room 222 and The Paper Chase is coming out this Tuesday. I also found 24 eps of Here's Lucy (SHOUT! released) in adiscount outlet here for only $6.99
Jude The Obscure 04-04-2009, 12:08 PM TVL is very little turned on here.......we actually have Hallmark on way more often. Do we even matter to TVL? Apparently not.....

What answer did Universal give you? Before the second season of 'The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries' was released on DVD, I emailed and asked Universal when they were going to release it, they replied saying they had no plans on releasing the second season. But obviously they changed their minds. So there is slight hope, kind of....
MickeyMac 04-04-2009, 02:47 PM its been almost three years since any DVD's have come out on this show.
Universal should tell the fans something.
Jude The Obscure 04-08-2009, 01:13 AM Seems they are almost as bad as Sony on releasing product!

At least they replied to you, they don't bother answering me....great customer service. I even e-mailed Shout and others who I thought may be smart enough to bring it out even if they did it as the whole series. I'd gladly re-buy the first two if I could get the whole series at once.

Yeah we don't get that channel in Philly either
I don't like the way TV Land schedules LITB on such an irregular basis. But it's the only network that shows LITB at the moment, and it's the only place to watch episodes from the later seasons that have not yet been released on DVD.
