View Full Version : I am so LIVID right now!

I think I have a pretty good idea now why a lot of people are snapping these days - we've gotten so self-sufficient and self-reliant that no one seems to care about anyone else anymore!

Case in point: ME - I have a lot of things on my mind right now and a lot of things to remember to do - my mother is in poor health and my sister and I have to get her will (she wanted it revised) and insurance papers and other things in order (yup, those have to be revised too), plus I have to get our apartment ready for an upcoming inspection next month, plus I have to go to the hospital tomorow morning for follow-up testing on my right breast (the doctor said they found something on my mammogram, but want to do follow-up testing to make sure it's benign), plus I have to pick up old bills from the nursing home my mother was in 4-5 years ago for a planner's review, plus all the stuff I have to remember to do at work.

On Sunday I went and spent $25 on food from a carryout place and put it all in my car because it was below freezing - it would be OK - all I had to do was remember to bring it to work today (Monday). Guess what? Because of everything else I had to remember, I FORGOT! And I didn't realize it until AFTER I had sat down and the train was pulling out of my station. The guy sitting next to me on the train was a twentysomething with no headphones, I-pod, etc. I tried to explain my situation, but he was on full ignore - until we got to the next stop, where he said "excuse me, please" to get out of the seat - which (to me) added TONS of salt to my wound! I felt like throwing this guy up against a wall and screaming at him, saying "Are those the only words you know, suburban punk? I just made a HUGE $25 mistake that I CANNOT afford to correct, and all you can say is excuse me please?!"

I know myself well enough to know that, if the opposite happened, I would talk with the person and try and do everything in my power to make the person try and feel better and help with any alternatives if I could. What would you do if you ran into me (or someone else) who just suddenly realized they made just as huge a mistake?

I'm sorry for how you are feeling kiddo. It is tough nowadays where people really don't care anymore.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. We are all going through our own issues. Just try to keep your head up and stay positive.

Not to sound cold but that is one thing nobody should do; vent your problems to a stranger on the subway. Nobody wants to hear them.

Here in NYC I have seen and heard a lot of loons on the train and the best thing to do is to avoid them. Somebody starts ranting to you on the train and you get up and avoid them.

I have done the same thing before, I'm not on the train to listen to anyone's problems and disturb me.

OH Nuts!

Sounds like you've had a lot of stressful stuff in your life & running all over the place frazzled. Yes, it is A BUMMER to lv stuff like that behind, I'd be annoyed too. The only thing I could think of would be to get off at the next stop and take the next train back to your starting pt - but that may have not been worth the time or $. You never know with strangers though, maybe he had something weighing on his mind too - or - on the other hand could have just have been a Class A as*h**e. When I get overwhelmed, I try to do a few things to unstress - like a nice hot bath, a few eps of a sitcom DVD, coffee or dinner with someone I really like being around, a phone call to someone supportive etc. Hope you feel better and that everything turns out well for you.

I'm sorry kiddo, but that is how I feel too. I wouldn't want to listen to a strangers' problems but maybe the guy had other things on his mind.

If it was a friend, it might be different, depending on how the friend is feeling.

I hope you have a good day tomorrow.

I know it is. I find it hard to take my own advice. Sometimes you can't help but feel down because of all the troubles. When ever I get really down I try to listen to some positive uplifting music. Like Bob Marley or Mariah Carey.

bob marley - no woman no cry

BOB MARLEY - War / No more trouble (Live)

Mariah Carey - Can't Take That Away

If it had been me, I would have spoken to you and sympathised with you. I probably would have felt a bit uncomfortable, though, as I wouldn't know you. Perhaps that's how the other guy felt? Maybe he just didn't know how he should respond and thought it was better just to stay quiet. Or maybe, as others said, he had something on his mind.

But I'm sorry about what happened.

Its amazing how callous people can be these days. You are really having a hard time and you picked a person to tell about this and he ignored you. I think thats cruel.

I just want to thank you guys for responding to my thread and being very supportive!! Yesterday was a really really tough day for me because of what happened, and today I'm over it and things actually got better today (Tuesday). I know many of you really don't know me that well (yet), but I know you guys really care and I can turn to you at anytime. Please know that I am always here for you as well - I'm a really good ear and I love talking to people!

I now know for certain I have REAL friends on these boards! :D :yourock:

i'm sorry that happened to you doody. people just don't take the time to listen to each other anymore. i think thats why theres so much violence in the world because theres so little communication. no one talks things out. however, i can see w/ all these public shootings in recent years people can become wary of someone becoming upset in public. but i think we've lost our common compassion for our fellow man.

by the way doody i have a funny little clip that might cheer you up that deals with what you went through:
