"Love Boat Star Joins Colleagues in Benefit Game for Handicapped"

Actor Ted Lange, a star of the Love Boat, joined several fellow actors in a benefit basketball game to raise funds for a swimming pool for 220 multi-handicapped students of Jauquin Miller High School in San Fernando Valley, CA.

The actors, including Anson Williams (Happy Days), Patrick Duffy (Dallas), Vic Tayback (Alice) and Gregory Sierra (AES Hudson Street), played in wheelchairs to make things even.

But the stars were soundly defeated by the students, 28-16. The basketball event was founded and produced by Michael Landon and psychic Kebrina Kinkade, credited with helping to solve 97 murders and helping to find 173 missing persons for the Los Angeles Police Dept.

Mayor Tom Bradley send a certificate of commendation to the producers of the fund-raising affair.

No problem!! I didn't even know they played the wheelchair basketball games in the 70s - I didn't think those started until way later. Yes...a lot of big names. You can probably guess my favorite one. :eyes:

As soon as I saw his name in the list it started to make sense how you would have found this article in a "random search". Any way I think wheelchair basketball games were actually quite rare in the 70's. As you mentioned they didn't really gain popularity until quite a bit later.
