View Full Version : What A Hunk Of Junk!
jasonbigley 03-26-2009, 02:55 PM Name something you bought and after you bough it, you were dissapointed.
Over the years, I have learned to be careful not to buy things with labels that say: "made in Honduras, Vietnam, Brazil, etc." I have bought things with these labels and discovered that it was junk or poorly manufactured. My mom once told me, "you get what you pay for." Sometimes it is best to pay more for something knowing it will last longer.

Yooch 03-26-2009, 05:11 PM Back in the 1980's I'd bought a fax machine through an American Express ad. I thought it would help with a home business, but the model of it became obsolete very quickly, plus with more people beginning to use PCs, I really didn't need one any more.
That's why with new products not keeping pace with the new technologies, something new comes out all the time, so that when you buy something (a digital camera, alternative fuel car, whatever) it's practically out of date already.
MickeyMac 03-26-2009, 05:30 PM When I was 18 a bought a Ford Granada. My mother made a big deal about it because her father once drove that same model. Everything was wrong with it, was glad to see it get scrapped.

Ohio8 03-26-2009, 10:11 PM In January 2000, I bought a Samyang 18-28mm lens for my Ricoh film camera. I made trial photos, and they all turned out awful so I returned the lens and got my money back.

Just curious Charles, why was it no good?
Zoneboy 03-29-2009, 02:37 PM Just curious Charles, why was it no good?
I set it up according to the directions and it worked fine for about a week then the problems began including:
Dropping calls during a conversation
Restarting everytime I clicked a link or visited websites
Error messages would also appear telling me to insert the disc that came with it. Only problem is there was no disc
If the magicjack had to restart, I had to provide my e-mail address and password to use the darn thing.
According to their commercials, It's supposed to be free for thirty days but my credit card was charged before that. The price was 39.95 which included the first year of service plus 6.95 for shipping or 9.95 to upgrade to priority mail. I needed it in a hurry so I took the upgrade but they shipped it first class for about a 1.85 and pocketed the rest. When I complained about not getting priority mail shipping, They told me that customers who select the priority option have their orders moved to the top of the list and that it doesn't mean shipping by priority mail.
Biggest problem though is that you can't call anyone to complain, You either have to e-mail or go through a chat session.
I heard that some people with Windows Vista were having issues and they have an upgrade for that which I took but the problems still persisted. I went to the BBB website and there's several complaints similar to mine.
I actually believe that the magicjack is good idea but it needs improvement,

Haha, we've been a Zenith family for as long as I can remember. I don't *have* a Zenith TV now - it's been Magnavox for the last 14 years - but it was what I grew up on.
My grandma is still using a Zenith TV that's around 20 years old and still going. About 5-6 years ago, she got a small Zenith flatscreen TV for the kitchen. So far, so good.
I just thought it was amusing seeing you mention that. :) I could probably say the same about Memorex stuff... their stuff used to be so good years ago. Not so much now, I think.
