View Full Version : What Episode to this Case/ Unsolved Wikia
Thor2000 03-25-2009, 01:01 PM Like I've said several times on these boards, I'm putting together a Wikia page for listing, describing and posting updates to ALL the UM cases. I'm getting through to listing all the cases for the series plus separating them by case type plus cross-referencing them by year, location and themes. So far, I've listed all the cases I've saw entirely entirely from the series (only about a quarter from the entire run of the season - that's an average of five segements an episode for 300+ episodes). Anyway, anyone is welcome to expand on the cases already there or add ones I've not included, but there's several segments from the series I have not discovered the original airdates for (I don't cover repeats). Can someone give me the original airdates for:

TracyLynnS 03-25-2009, 02:19 PM Thor, on your wikia pages it will allow me to edit and make changes to the body of the text.
I just played around in there without creating an account or actually changing anything, I just used "preview" rather than actually trying to change stuff.
Anyhow, the reason I'm mentioning this is that Ethel Kitt is actually spelled Kidd, so that would need to be changed in the body of the text as well as in the actually heading of the page.
If I created an account with wikia, would it give me full editing priveliges needed to make a big change like that, or only enough to contribute to the content of the page?
crystaldawn 03-25-2009, 02:36 PM I don't believe the Kerry Culberson case was ever profiled on UM.
I have a list of many NBC episodes that I have with airdates. You might find some of those segments on there. Let me know if you'd like me to send it to you.
synthisislab 03-25-2009, 02:47 PM I applaud you for doing this since it would be the best way for people to get all the info on each case now since Cosgrove/Meurer are closing people down from selling bootleg discs and posting on vid sites and since Spike keeps pulling the new "and improved" UM.
TracyLynnS 03-25-2009, 02:54 PM On www.findcarrieculberson.com on the updates page 3 I found this:
Feb. 21, 2003 - Lifetime Television for Women will be airing a show regarding Carrie's disappearance at 8 p.m. The show is called Final Justice and is hosted by Erin Brocokovitch.
I could have sworn that I'd seen carrie's story on UM, too, but maybe this is why Thor and I thought is was a UM segment. It was on lifetime and we just got confused.
Edited to add that on updates page 2 there's this info:
Wed, May 25, 2005 - AETV's American Justice airs the long awaited segment titled "Where is Carrie Culberson".
unsolved88 03-25-2009, 06:01 PM I looked in the episode guide found these airdates. These are in no particular order.
Gary Magno: 10/18/89
Don Smith: 7/12/89
Larry Costine: 5/31/94
Corinne Gustavson: 11/24/93
Charles Morgan: 2/7/90
Tina Jefferson: 11/1/89
Eve Miezel: 10/27/93
Ed Baker: 3/3/93
Neal Jennings: 1/20/93
Anita Green: 3/16/94
Tony Lombardi: 4/13/94
Melanie Uribe: 2/3/95
Michael Hughes: 12/15/95
I'll have more later.
TracyLynnS 03-25-2009, 06:26 PM Thor, I went in and corrected Su Taraskiewicz's spelling of her name in the body of the text, and also Ethel Kidd. I think I might register an account with the site there and help out with your info, if you don't mind.
I figured out how to correct the first page showing their names where it links to their articles, but then by changing the spelling of their names, it erases the whole article! Why does it do that?
Okay, editing again to say that I completely fixed Ethel Kidd's page and when I get more time (dinner right now) I'll go fix Su Taraskiewicz's page.
synthisislab 03-25-2009, 07:57 PM This is awesome. I can't wait to view it when it's complete.
Thor2000 03-26-2009, 11:45 AM Thor, on your wikia pages it will allow me to edit and make changes to the body of the text.

I've joined several Wikia Pages for Lost, Harry Potter, Hogan's Heroes, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Star Wars and Phineas and Ferb and I can tell you that joining allows you to edit and add, especially if you want to keep track and keep an idea on your edits and people editting your own work. Working on those sites is what gave me the idea on how well Wikia would work in detailing, describing and cross-referencing cases, but It's just too big a job for one guy.
And yeah, the spelling is off here and there. I didn't have the luvury of DVR when Lifetime ran the series so I just jotted and described the cases as extensive as I could get into a spiral notebook when it ran. I never even got to see the Spike episodes plus everytime AMW or Forensic Files mention a case that was on UM, I added it to to the list. Kerry Culberson, I don't recall it on UM either, but there's A LOT of cases I don't recall and several I can't find in the series list that I know I got directly from Lifetime. The reason for this is: I either got names that don't match, I got names not in the resource or the resource got a reference wrong (Orange County guard not Orange County employee).
Anyway, I am open to extra editors as long as they already understand what I'm trying to do and can continue using the templates and themes I'm already using, but there's always room for improvement.
I'm a writer, not a web-designer!
Thor2000 03-26-2009, 11:51 AM I don't believe the Kerry Culberson case was ever profiled on UM.
I have a list of many NBC episodes that I have with airdates. You might find some of those segments on there. Let me know if you'd like me to send it to you.
On the site, you can click CASEFILES directly for a list of cases by episode or click to the options next to it for cases by type (Murder, wanted, lost or mystery, i'm not including ghosts and UFOs at this time)
Since I culled info from three separate episode lists, I'm sure there's mistakes in it especially since I listed cases by separate names. Dave Davis under Wanted and Shannon Davis under Murder, but the two are cross-linked. the list probably needs to be updated or at least proofread
synthisislab 03-26-2009, 11:56 AM I really like the idea of cross-referencing certain cases that were featured on other TV programs such as 48 Hours, Forensic Files, Cold Case Files, etc. I wish you luck on this project.
Thor2000 03-26-2009, 12:37 PM Well, that wasn't my original intention, but, yeah, down the line that could be done because as big a wealth UM has on unsolved cases, it's not infinite, and subsequently, ever case could get covered and then what, cross-referencing them would could link two cases that COULD be related!
unsolved88 03-26-2009, 01:53 PM Thor, I added some info on your page about Kristi Krebs. Since I'm laid-off at the moment, I have time to watch the DVDs.
TracyLynnS 03-26-2009, 02:35 PM Thor, on the section of the page where it gives the victim's name and location, do you want the DATE to be the date the story aired on UM or the date that the crime occured?

TracyLynnS 03-31-2009, 01:15 PM Thor, I asked this in "part one" but you didn't get a chance to answer. I'll go ahead and ask again here. (Just ignore it in part one if you run across it.)
On the section of the page where it gives the victim's name and location, do you want the DATE to be the date the story aired on UM or the date that the crime occured?
Thor2000 04-01-2009, 12:52 PM I need the airdate these cases appeared since episode numbers vary from episode list to episode list; this list involves cases from these boards and other media I have not identified episodes for
in my UM wikia site, I have a place up top for each case on when it occurred plus a place down below in the category place to cross-reference cases by years and states they occurred. this is great if you want to known what happened in your home state
there's also a notes place on each UM wikia case description for giving details not directly related to the case; this is a good place for giving airdates, other TV series to run that case and actors as other neat non-case related trivia. I know Matthew McConnaghey did a segment and I'll mention it on the proper case on the site when I get that far.
Like I said, I hope anyone really wanting to help on the project really checks the site and gets familar with it out to get used to it since my instructions there might be incoherent. The best way to add new cases may be to examine similar cases; I don't mind picking up missing categories or adding new links to keep it straight unless it gets more than i can handle. The posted lists so far are strictly from my notebook; I still need to go through the case-by-episode list and add the errant case names to the master lists: Wanted, Murder, Lost/Missing and Mysteries
Sidebar, I have countless cases already posted with Unknown State or Unknown Year which could really use updating or at least more details, as long as no one paste and clicks stuff from the official UM site. As they haven't given permission for the site, I don't need that kind of harassment.
Thor2000 04-01-2009, 12:56 PM >> it erases the whole article! Why does it do that?
it doesn't erase it, it just changes the link to it. I always paste/click the original case to repost after changing the link. I then run a search for the original erroneos page and delete it.
Thor2000 04-01-2009, 01:10 PM Thor, on the section of the page where it gives the victim's name and location, do you want the DATE to be the date the story aired on UM or the date that the crime occured?
this is the template for the Unsolved Murders, the other templates vary a bit by type but here's how I got it so far:
'''Real Name:''' longer fuller name of the person or pers at the center of the case
'''Nicknames:''' nicknames, aliases or other mispellings of the name for search purposes
'''Location:''' where case occurred
'''Date:''' when case occurred
==Case==
'''Details:''' the body and description of case
'''Suspects:''' possible suspects or alternate theories
'''Extra Notes:''' episode date, trivia, other shows to run the cases, etc
'''Results:''' Solved, Unsolved, Unresolved?
'''Links:''' Case websites or links to where the info comes from, direct links to main UM website pages
down below the cases are cross-referenced by state or country, year, status, the crime involved or concurrent themes through the show, much of what I've already used are already listed in the category list
technically, these templates could be fine-tuned later on for more info in the future, but I really don't want to go back to ALL the previous cases at that point to update them all to an updated template
