Fox has ordered six additional Bones scripts, which would likely turn into episodes for the Fall 2009 season, TV Week reports. While not a formal renewal, all signs point to the David Boreanaz-Emily Deschanel dramedy returning for a fifth season. It routinely wins its Thursday at 8 p.m. time slot.

Kind of a slap in the face to Bones, IMO. It's always been a very good performer, very solid this season, yet FOX never fails to underrated it - why not just give it a full season pickup?

They're jerks. They have committed to multi-year deals with American Idol and 24 but don't do that for House and Bones.

Being a fan of Bones, I'm used to this by now. Every single year Fox threatens to move it to Friday and then they eventually change their mind afer their other shows bomb and Bones has to be used to lift their schedule up.I'm shocked that Bones is making it to a 5th season at all with the amount of support it gets from the network. I can't even remember all the different timeslots it has had. It sort of reminds me of how 3rd Rock was treated by NBC.

I don't watch the show regularly, but it is moved all over the schedule all the time, and is still getting 10 million viewers everywhere it airs. FOX has to understand that although it isn't the 20+ that Idol does, 10 million is great nowadays. They just see right through that.
