I've been enjoying the 3rd season DVDs ... but it's very noticeable that Joe Depew's direction is no match for Richard Whorf's. And Curt Massey's background music pales in comparison to Perry Botkin's.

The BH book says Whorf was fired at the end of season two -- anybody know why? His last episode was part 1 of "Cabin in Beverly Hills" -- Depew directed part 2 and tons of episodes thereafter.

Any idea why Botkin left at the same time? The show lost a LOT when these two gentlemen departed.

I loved Perry's music, they should have kept both people.

Richard Whorf died in the mid-1960s, so maybe he had health issues.

I loved Perry's music, they should have kept both people.I liked his music too. Especially the tune that introduces scenes in Mr. Drysdale's office.
