I once read a brilliant fanfic story that takes place in Winchester's era. Hawk, Bj and Potter are sitting in chairs outside, drinking when a stranger comes up and says he's from headquarters and he's investigating Capt. Jonathan (Jonathon?) Tuttle! Hawk frantically says "Bye everybody" leaving Beej and Potter curious why he's running off. The stranger catches up to him and says they figured out (down at HQ) that Hawk was posing as Tuttle (Hawk's signature as him!) and that Tuttle never really existed! Before Gen. Clayton went back to the US, as he suspected Hawk was behind the whole charade, he ordered an investigation! To save Hawk 35 years at Leavenworth (because HQ realizes he gave the Tuttle insurance dough to St. Theresa's Orphanage) they just briefly have him risk his life by going out where the soldiers are getting wounded (to defend South Korea) and getting photographed doing so! The fanfic ended with Beej finding out who Tuttle actually was from Margaret (and Hawk saying to Beej) he's learned his lesson about practical jokes of any kind!!!!
