In the HOUR-LONG episode called "LUCY WANTS A CAREER," from 1959,
Lucy's guest star is movie actor Paul Douglas who is only 52 at the time.
This episode originally aired in April of 1959, and Paul died only a few
short months later. Details on him are sketchy. Of what did he
die?

He died of a heart attack.

Paul Douglas suffered a heart attack and died during filming of The Twilight Zone episode "The Mighty Casey." The scenes with Douglas were shot again with Jack Warden who replaced him.

I never knew this info about Paul Douglas, thank you for sharing! I have always enjoyed the "Lucy Wants A Career" episode, one of my favs of the hour long show.

Lucy Wants A Career is my favorite of the hour long shows too. I like when she falls asleep in the bowl of cereal.

I love Paul Douglas. A great movie where he really showed his acting ability is, Clash By Night, (1952). Barbara Stanwyck, Robert Ryan, Marilyn Monroe. My heart just breaks for Douglas in that movie.

Great episode because Lucy finally gets her long desired taste of stardom and then realizes it isn't what she wanted at all.....:lol:
