I see these way too much during The Price Is Right myself (mainly the Wilford Brimley & Hoverround ones), so I know what you mean.

Not to mention so many of them are disgusting and air during the dinner hour (like the uncontrolable bladder ones). If some of them don't make you lose your appetite, I don't know what will. puke:

I always make my 2 1/2 year old nephew laugh with my Wilford Brimley impression - "CHECK IT! CHECK IT OFTEN!"

I can't understand why Spike TV shows so many birth control commercials at 10 in the morning. Then they show one for natural male enhancement right after it-lol

I agree medical commercials can be depressing. Usually when I'm watching tv and it goes to commercial I try not to pay attention to the commercials.

I'd like them to get rid of those and the lawyer commercials. I bet those people will be suckers for lawsuits and go broke.

I agree. I hate those commercials too. They show the clogged arteries, and how a clot escapes, and heads for your heart or brain. I hate those illustrations. There were never this many medical commercials before. Now, there's no getting away from them.

I don't like the new version of the JOLLY GREEN GIANT commercial.

That was a classic commercial and now it sounds like a R&B song in 2009-lol

It has gotten a little tiresome seeing them. They have all sorts of ones now, I've seen one many times with some lady talking about reusing catheters. Who would want to see a commercial like that? It's gross.

And the side effects or what may happen to you if you take these drugs is ridiculous. Hey my arthritis is better, but now I'm going blind, I have blood clots, tuberculous and cancer.

I happen to disagree with you and Janice. I think some of these medical
commercials are very informing and I think the public has a right to be
informed. I also have not yet lost my appetite watching these commercials
and that has never been a problem with me. Solomon, you always seem to
find something to whine or complain about.

It's not whining or complaining. Chit Chat is the place where members get to discuss what they love or hate.

Yeah, but James, there are also commercials for meds for depression, too. MAD-tv's parody of the Zoloft commercial was HILARIOUS!!

I have noticed these medical commercials when I watch Let's Make A Deal or Who Wants To Be A Millionaire or GSN and the medical commercials that get lots of airtime are for illnesses such as back surgery/back pain cancer and diabetes and what it seems like to me is that these places are getting huge money from promoting their businesses especially Cancer Treatment Centers Of America who airs tons of commercials a lot daily on TV. Other medical commercials that seem to get airplay are commercials for NyQuil and Gas-X and when I have watched Cash Cab on GSN I have never seen so many medical commercials being advertised on GSN and it seems that GSN is a huge target for medical commercials. And another commercial that is overplayed is the Step On It commercials with Cedric The Entertainer with the famous "I hear you" line. But people have complaints of aches and pains all the time and with modern medicine being more advanced in the future more medical commercials will be made to attract people to buy the medicine or medical product

One of the commercials I do kind of like is the Chantex with the turkey. Only seen about 10 times and find it clever. Maybe after a 100 times, I may change my mind.

I would be all for reinstating the ban on prescription drug commercials. This thread is 10 years old and it's only gotten worse. I stopped watching anything live so I can skip the commercials.

Here is a prescription drug commercial that really gets me going: The tartive dysconesia drug ad. Evidently this is a disorder that occurs when a person takes a drug for treating bipolar disorder. So now they are making drugs which treat the side effects of other drugs. No word yet on whether there will be a drug that treats any side effect of the drug that treats tartive dysconesia.

Other types of medical commercials that have gotten huge airplay are the ones with William Shatner promoting CPAP machines and the cancer ads and I do not know how these medical commercials get tons of money from airplay? It used to be the only medical commercials you would see were commercials for electric wheelchairs and scooters but now you see commercials for knee braces and dental treatments and Humana commercials and they should limit these commercials to a minimum

Here are some health related commercials I don't want to see anymore:

procedure to fix crooked penis
Grave's eye disease
LIfe alert
hearing aid - guy overhears daughter asking her boyfriend if he brought the condoms

Same here. It is almost impossible to watch TV while a program is playing anymore. Not only the ads but the amount of them too. In addition to the unwatchable ads there must be something like 5 times the amount of them compared to how TV used to be back in the day.

Professionals like doctors don't advertise, and neither did lawyers at one time. Now we're inundated with them (lawyers), too.
