I think it somewhat did due to Terry's leaving when Sherry Jackson decided to move onto other things as a teen, then the character returning with another actress in the role so they could showcase Pat Harrington, Jr. as her fiance. Somehow, when that happened, it took away from the original premise of a workaholic dad trying to adjust to everyday life with his family to the family all getting starstruck with the increasing number of celebs.
