I noticed alot of bad things seem to happen to Lowell. Some of his friends did some rotten things, despite the fact Lowell was always doing things for them. When he lived with Joe and Brian, he did all the chores and cooked. He even gave them gifts, like the pillow for Helen and Davis or the mug for Roy. He even slept in an airplane after his wife left him and didn't want to burden his friends. Yet:
- Joe breaks Lowell's radio controlled Graf Zeppelin model which was his most prized possession that he worked on for years.
- His wife cheats on him
- Roy constantly ridicules him, despite Lowell being nice to him most of the time.
- Brian sinks his houseboat
- Lowell cooks and cleans for Joe/Brian after he moves in with them, but they eventually kick him out, making him live on his own.
- When he asks for a raise after losing his house, he is replaced in "Labor Pains"
- His friend Weeb Gilroy dies
- He witnesses a murder and is forced to join the witness protection program, leaving the job his loves, as well as his friends and kids behind and never see them again.

 I never thought of that. I always felt more sorry for Antonio. Poor guy never could catch a break, no matter what he did.

Don't forget when the Wax Museum went belly-up. Or when Helen laughed in his face when he asked her out.

I think Helen laughing at him was probably when the worst for me! That was just horrendous, and the way he groaned and ran out of the terminal... uggh! Poor guy.
Antonio was the intended poor-me target, so I rarely felt bad for him. (In fact, in the later seasons I was a little tired of his whining!) But meanwhile yes, Lowell was usually helping people out, so when that character was screwed-over I felt bad for him.
His houseboat sinking? I always thought that was way more horrible than Helen ramming Joe's office with her Jeep, but it seemed to just be dealt with in a blink. Bizarre. And I also felt really really bad for him when his blimp was crushed.
"... with tiiiiiiny tweeeeezers!"

This is exactly how I feel too. Antonio was very woe-is-me, where as Lowell had it just as bad but he didn't complain, and instead of whining about his own troubles, he was always doing stuff for his friends. This is why I felt more sympathy for Lowell than Antonio.

Very good points. BTW, I like your Avatar!
