Get ready to lose an hour's sleep this weekend in exchange for more daylight in the evenings. Daylight Savings Time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday. So remember to set all your clocks ahead one hour.

Much as I like having the sun still out when I leave work in the evening, I hate losing an hour of sleep. Boooooooooooo!!

I'm probably the only one here who thinks this, but it doesn't really bother me to lose an hour. Maybe because I don't have to be up early tomorrow to go to work!

Meh, it's the weekend and I'm on break so I can sleep anyway. I'm just excited for it to stay light out longer!

Same here Sonny. Like 4am instead of 5am for me. :happyface

I guess I'll get busy doing all the resetting now. I've got about six watches, two alarm clocks, microwave, stove clock, grandfather clock, two wall clocks, the timestamp on my phone answering machine. He can do the car clock. I guess that's twelve altogether. I'm glad the computer, and cable boxes set automatically.

I already got my clock radio & oven set forward. All I have to do is my 2 wall clocks. I'll change my car clock next time I drive.

I'm actually glad we're going back to the normal time period. DST throws me off in the winter and I end up staying up way too late. During the Spring and Summer months I tend to sleep early and wake up early. I'd rather be up at 5am than be awake until 2am and get little sleep.

Crap, that's in the morning? Wow. I thought it was going to be next Sunday. Dang! Thanks for the reminder. :) I only really have to reset my watch, the microwave, and the wall clock. Everything else will reset themselves. Woo!

Huh? We're actually going into Daylight Savings Time. We've been on Standard Time during these winter months. You have it backwards I think. ;)

Everyone in Canada does daylight savings time except Saskatchewan. By the way HST is Hawaii Standard Time. The Pacific time zone covers California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia(yeah!!!!) and The Yukon. Hawaii is definitely not in the Pacific time zone.

I think it's pointless to change times twice a year. Just PICK ONE and stick with it. Many countries in the world are on Standard Time year round. I would prefer DST because of the later sunsets but I know it presents problems with the sunrise being so late in the morning during the winter months if you didn't switch back.

Yeah, HST is Hawaiian Standard time. :) They're 4 hours behind CST right now, but in 19 mins, they'll be 5 hours. They don't change.

The flight back east is a killer when it's an overnight flight and you don't sleep.

Nope, Hawaii has its own time zone (-2 from Pacific). Ditto with Alaska (-1 from Pacific).

Soooooo right now in Alaska, it is 11pm. Hawaii is 10pm.

Yeah it is. Most countries that never use DST are near the Equator where the sunrise/sunset don't vary nearly as much and therefore there's no point in changing.

There really isn't a point in us changing, but I give up.

Odd...a tiny piece of Quebec (that is Quebec, right?) and a tiny piece of Arizona, both surrounded by blue, don't do dst anymore.

Saskatchewan is the one that mostly doesn't observe DST now. One over, that's Manitoba. Two over (with the orange in the middle), that's Ontario. Then after THAT (with the orange way on the right), would be Quebec. :)

(not sure which province you were referring to, since two of them both had orange dots)

Used to drive me nuts when I was doing inside sales because I had the Bay Northern Store accounts and you had to check to see who "participated" and who didn't.

I'm glad we have it and I'm glad it was extended. Best thing Bush ever did. ;) I hate going in to work in the dark and leaving in the dark. I also have more problems driving the dark so the more light I'm awake for the better. The evenings feel longer too.

I'm surprised there's small parts in both provinces actually. There's that tiny dot in northern ontario....

You know what bugs me about time? Time zone lines, specifically.

3/4 of North Dakota is in the Central zone. The SW part of ND is in Mountain, and I just happen to live about 45 minutes from it. The rest of the states in the same column as ND (SD, NE, KS, OK and TX) are alllllll in the Central zone. I don't get why all of ND isn't in Central. It makes more sense to run the lines by state boundaries.

I know!! I've been in those states driving west on the interstate and I never understood why the time zones are in the state rather than the state line. Same goes for Fla. In the panhandle, it goes from Eastern time to Central just west of Tallahassee. I mean I know the panhandle is long(it's about 350 miles from Jacksonville to Pensacola), but you'd think that Central time would start in Alabama.

Is it normally sunny in North Dakota at 5am? Technically, you're getting off at 5 even though the clock says 6. When I leave the house at 6:45 in the morning, it is going to be dark here because it is still dark at 5:45, and since the time jumped up, 6:45 is going to be 5:45.

I KNOW. I DON'T GET IT. Texas juts out farther west than lowly 'ole North Dakota, and it's still in Central farther west than ND. Oops, I was wrong... HALF of South Dakota is in Mountain. Geez... Glad I don't live there. And there's that tiny part of Kansas that's in Mountain. Huh? But all of Oklahoma IS in Central. And only a little bit of the western part of TX is in Mountain, so that's good. I've been asked before if I lived in the Mountain or Central zone.

The Central/Eastern line isn't as stupid as Mountain/Central, but wow. The panhandle thing doesn't make sense to me either! "Oh hey, I'm in the tiny part of Florida that's in Central..." I thought ALL of Florida was in Eastern!

Hmm, you know... I'm not sure. LOL! I went to bed around 6 this morning, but I was in my room and I have dark dark dark towels covering my window in there, so I didn't see if it was sunny then.

It won't be so bad *NOW* but it will be in the summer, when I'm getting off work. Now that will hurt walking out from work in the morning. Okay, I see the sun will start coming up around 8... Good enough for me. :)

I think it depends on different regions too. These time zones sure can be confusing! Thanks for posting that map. I'm very close to the Central time zone. In the summer, it is probably going to be sunny out by the time you get off work. I prefer a later sunrise myself. I love cloudy, rainy days so a later sunrise sounds good to me. I also do love the sunshine though. There's just something theraputic about a sunny day.

For about 3 years I lived in a town on the AL/GA line that was on Eastern time because it was a tri-city area with one of the cities being in GA. Otherwise the rest of the state is on Central. I live only 10 miles from the Georgia line and Eastern time here, so it can be confusing at times since half my TV stations come out of Atlanta(and the other half Birmingham or Montgomery and Central Time), but I've gotten used to it over the years.

My grandmother told me that the reason they started Daylight Savings Time to begin with was for farmers, so that they could work out in the fields longer during the warmer months.

Don't know if that's true though or not LOL
