Last night, my girlfriend and I were watching some of The Best of the Red Skelton Show on PBS and some of the clips were hilarious, including Red and Freddy the Freeloader. Even though I didn't watch his show when I was younger, since my parents weren't fans, I remember picking up a free cardboard record at Burger King of Red's rendition of The Pledge of Allegiance. Anyone remember his show?

Yes, I do. I enjoyed Heathcliff and Gertrude and Clem Kadiddlehopper but my favorite was always Freddie the Freeloader. It always amazed me how Red could communicate so much emotion through that character without ever speaking.

My ex and I absolutely worship Red - and miss him so much. He was like everyone's granddaddy!
I watched it too (and recorded it). I remember when he was on the Dini Petty show and how gracious a man he was.
I can't believe so many younger people have never heard of him. It's a real shame because he had the best, old fashioned humour - just good clean, funny stuff. And his bloopers were the best! He didn't care about covering them up - he'd play them up even more. What a great show he put on.
I remember years ago a couple of seagulls took up housekeeping on my balcony for the winter. We called them Heathcliff and Gertrude.

Red was one of the greatest comedians of all time. Radio, motion pictures,
television. He did it all, and he did it with class and style. And, yes, he is missed.

I try to figure out whether classic comedian Red Skelton (https://books.google.com/books?id=EyEkCQAAQBAJ&pg=PA137&lpg=PA137&dq=the+red+skelton+show+syndication&source=bl&ots=kHE7bizz8x&sig=ACfU3U22EkW3icEco9B_I4bkzpe52Fwd5w&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjTnojuv6-EAxXYSDABHRGSBps4KBDoAXoECAQQAw#v=onepage&q=the%20red%20skelton%20show%20syndication&f=false) is still remembered (https://accountryfan-acsanimatedcorner.blogspot.com/2020/05/red-skelton-on-rfd-tv.html) and the possible reasons (https://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/64005/red-skelton-show-the-lost-episodes-the/) he may not be known (https://www.quora.com/Why-was-the-Red-Skelton-Show-never-seen-in-reruns) by later generations (https://televisiondiary.wordpress.com/2016/05/29/review-the-red-skelton-show-season-one/).

I watch his show on Tubi. In fact I was watching it earlier this morning.
