What is it about models falling down on the runway that strikes us as so especially hilarious? We guess it might have something to do with the sheer schadenfreude of seeing the thin and beautiful look just as stupid as the rest of us for once.
A model who wiped out at a West Hollywood fashion show last year doesn't see the humor -- she's suing several involved companies (http://www.tmz.com/2009/02/27/model-falls-gets-up-files-lawsuit/). Sarah Welch, of "The Bachelor" fame, fell through a hole (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jldp93-TIlQ&eurl=http://www.lemondrop.com/2009/02/27/model-sues-after-runway-slip/) made by a martial-arts-sword dancer and into a moat at the show.

Why there was a sword dancer, perhaps we'll never know. All we do know is that Sarah sauntered out and immediately stepped, Homer Simpson-style, directly into the hole, which coincidentally was almost exactly the size of her body.

Claiming "great injuries to her body" and "shock and injuries to her nervous system," she is suing for negligence and seeking unspecified damages. We think she might want to tack "extreme embarrassment due to repeat YouTube viewings of said runway fall" to her list of grievances.

Check out video of the model taking a plunge after the jump (http://www.lemondrop.com/2009/02/27/model-sues-after-runway-slip/).

I think the model has a case. It's a reasonable expection to not have a huge hole on the runway floor.

I agree, she could have really been hurt.

I agree with you, there was no excuse for them not covering that hole, or at least warning her about it ohno:

OH Nuts!

Sounds pretty egregious to me too. My gut tells me she should end up with something - the amt. also being influenced by the extent of any injuries.

And since models do depend on their looks for livelihood, this makes her case even stronger.

I do hope she is fairly compensated. Yes, they were negligent to not warn her about the hole. ohno: I bet they'll warn people next time!!

Judge: Was the hole big enough for a person to fit through?

Defendant: No sir! Only big enough for a model

OH Nuts!
