LOS ANGELES — Actor Bruce Willis and his production company are being sued in Los Angeles for $4 million for breach of contract.

The lawsuit filed Friday alleges Willis Brother Films agreed on a contract with three companies to produce the feature film "Three Stories About Joan," which Willis was to star in and direct.

The lawsuit alleges that on Sept. 29 Willis quit as director without notice in violation of the agreement.

Phone calls to Willis' publicist and attorney were not immediately returned.

Henry Gradstein, attorney for the companies suing Willis, says the courts will resolve the matter. He had no further comment.

The plaintiffs include Foresight Unlimited, Signature Entertainment Group and Three Stories Productions.

Willis Hits Back At Movie Lawsuit
2 March 2009 11:10 PM, PST

Hollywood actor Bruce Willis is to countersue over accusations he walked out on a recent movie project - calling the lawsuit against him "absurd" and "frivolous".

The Die Hard star is being sued by executives at a film company who claim he signed a $200,000 (£137,000) deal to direct new picture Three Stories About Joan, starring Owen Wilson and Camilla Belle, but quit during filming.

However, the star's lawyer, Marty Singer, insists the case is without foundation, revealing Willis will be launching his own lawsuit against movies bosses.

Singer claims executives at the companies involved in the film - Foresight Unlimited, Signature Entertainment Group and Three Stories Productions - failed to put funding into an escrow account for Willis before the film started.

He says, "(The claims are) absurd and without merit. Why would you render services knowing you're not getting paid?

"I've been practising over thirty years and I can't think of a more frivolous lawsuit that I've ever seen."

Willis' legal team will launch the countersuit "very shortly".

Good for him, I wouldn't work for free either. Like they say, there are two sides to a story.
