Big3sCompanyFan 02-28-2009, 02:38 AM I'd like to find out what happened too. With so many Jeffersons cast members dying is it the Jeffersons curse?
PrettyinPink55 02-28-2009, 03:42 AM I didn't know he died!!!! I thought he was still alive???
MikeLutton 02-28-2009, 05:56 AM oh sorry yeah he did month or so ago at age 72 i think at a hotel his brother found him but never found out how he died he like 6th member of jeffersons to pass in last few years i think there is a curse
Big3sCompanyFan 02-28-2009, 04:46 PM I just saw that episode last nite on TV land where George gets disco fever and hurts his back in the end and Bentley stands on his back and tried to dance. LOL
He was a goofy guy but I'm sure the producers of the Jeffersons wanted him to play the part of an oddball. The strange thing is you would've thought he'd be quite a bit taller even if they did halt his acromegaly.
It's amazing to think that he faked that British accent even when he was off screen and never was British. Although, if you notice his British accent wasn't really authentic when you hear Britishers speak but it was still pretty good.
OOliver 03-04-2009, 06:04 PM I have a friend who lived about a quarter mile from where Benedict died, and here's what she told me that's been reported...
First, Benedict died in West Tisbury, MA on the island of Martha's Vineyard. He was staying at his family's long-time "summer home" (which he inherited) year round, his brother has a home not too far away. The death was ruled 'cardiac arrest'; apparently he died in his sleep. There was nothing suspicious, no foul play. There were rumours of 'foul play' at first, because his brother had said something to the media (I forgot what) which they picked up as 'foul play'. Apparently, it was natural causes.
My friend said she used to see PB around town all the time (usually in the market), and he was very friendly. In the summer, when the island population increases tenfold, he was recognized by many 'Jeffersons' fans, and didn't seem to mind.
He was also active in summer theater on Martha's Vineyard, performing regularly (in the summer) with the local theater groups.
Big3sCompanyFan 03-05-2009, 04:08 PM It was good he conversed with Jefferson's fans. That Martha's Vineyard sounds like a beautiful place.

losing jeffersons like losing some family.
OOliver 03-21-2009, 12:35 PM His cause of death was not really kept secret, and was reported in the town's newspaper "The Vineyard Gazzette". they ran a full obit on him as well. I guess some of the Hollywood papers and various news/entertainment outlets chose not to pick it up?
If I remember correctly, I believe there was a publice memorial held for him at one of the theaters in town where he performed.
Martha's Vineyard is a beautiful, quaint "Old New England" island off the coast of Cape Cod, MA which has grown in popularity over the past twenty years. In the summer, it is now populated with many celebrities (Tom Hanks, Spike Lee, Liza Minnelli, Barbra Streisand, Matt Lauer, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick) walking around town.
It was also President Clinton's favorite summer get-a-way when he was President in the 90s, as well as the Kennedys for the past 100 years or so (Jackie Kennedy owned an enormous estate which is now owned by her daughter Caroline). JFK Jr's plane crashed right off the coast of the island in 1999, when he was enroute to his cousin's wedding on the Cape (he was going to pick up another guest on the island).
If you're planning a summer vacation - you may want to do some research on Martha's Vineyard!
