In the series he always talk about growing up in Seattle. But was this fact ever mentioned on Cheers? My husband and I were discussing this one night while watching the episode where Woody visits. I don't recall any mention of Frasier's hometown.

Also, was there ever a Frasier episode with "Nanny G" - his first wife?

I don't believe it was ever mentioned in Cheers, but I guess they had to flesh the Frasier character and story out, so to seperate him from Cheers, they had him returning to his 'native Seattle'. He never mentioned he had a brother in Cheers either, and he also told everybody his father was a dead scientist.

I just started watching Frasier, but I wondered that as well. I never could get into Cheers, so this is just a theory... Maybe he and Lillith moved to Boston and then after they got divorced, he moved back to Seattle to be with his father and brother? ;)

on the episode where Sam Malone comes to visit, when Frasier, Niles Martin & Daphne are in Frasiers apt., after he introduces Niles Martin says to Sam something like "What'd he tell you about me, his father the retired cop"? Sam says "He said you were dead". Martin turns to Frasier and says "YOU SAID I WAS DEAD"?? Frasier says "WELL I WAS MAD AT YOU AT THE TIME"! Sam then says "And he said you were a research scientist". Martin turns to Frasier again and says "A RESEARCH SCIENTIST"? Frasier says "WELL YOU WERE DEAD ANYWAY, SO WHAT DOES IT MATTER"?

And yes, he did mention his hometown once on "CHEERS" also that he has a brother.

But when they showed her on "CHEERS" she was played by Emma Sands; and on "FRASIER" by Laurie Metcalf.

Ha ha, I remember Frasier telling Martin that he was mad at him. That was hilarious!

I just watched the first episode last night and in one of the very first scenes, Fraiser is giving advice to a caller and he says "...So I ended the marriage once and for all, packed up my things, and moved back here to my hometown of Seattle. Go Seahawks!"

Frasier is definitely a Seattle native, though I agree it was never mentioned on Cheers.

I suspect he moved back home after his divorce from Lilith because he wanted to put a lot of distance between himself & her - due to the toxicity of the marriage & the bad memories associated with this. Also, having his brother & father in Seattle made him more comfortable, i.e. he wasn't moving somewhere where he didn't know anyone.

Also - as is seen throughout the run of the series, Frasier & Niles are always running into people from their past in Seattle, i.e. an old high school crush, old baby-sitters, high school bullies (the plumber from one episode, and a rival employee from another radio station - in the S11 weight-loss contest), etc. - ha ha.
