We got back from winter break today only to be informed that one of the teachers in another elementary school in town passed away suddenly of an apparent heart attack. He was in his 70's and still teaching because he loved his job and wanted to do it for as long as God allowed him. Looks like that's what happened.

I'm very sorry to hear about this, Kristen. I remember looking through the newspaper about seven years ago and seeing that my high school lit teacher had died of cancer. :( I was very saddened. She was a good woman and someone who lived life to its fullest.

I didn't really know him that well, but I hear he was highly respected by his colleagues, parents, and students.

That's a shame. At least he was doing what he loved up to his death. He wasn't forced to retire or anything.

I've had a couple teachers die since I left school. My music teacher died in her 40s or 50s of Leukemia a few years ago. It's still hard to believe she's gone.

The sad fact is that the older we get, the more of our former teachers are going to pass on. :( And those that we hated with a passion will live to be in their hundreds, lol.

I'm sorry to hear about the teacher. He must have been a wonderful man to continue teaching. I had a former teacher who just returned to teaching.

Im sorry to hear that. That's really sad. That reminds me of my 5th grade teacher. She died of cancer. It was so hard to deal with that at such a young age.
