Are outdated/misleading billboards as much of an eyesore to you as they are to me?
Case in point: the common billboard for "Wedding Festivals" in the Upstate. The most recent of those ended in January, yet we're near March and the ad is still up there as if March is January. Wouldn't that be somewhat misleading to those who might have wanted to attend one of those festivals?!
I do not understand why that particular billboard is still up there long after the January dates given on it.

Probably because it costs money to bring it down just like it costs money to bring it up.

Good point. I wish that it didn't cost so much to replace an outdated billboard.

When I lived in the country they kept the signs up all year - apple farms, pick your own strawberries, the Fall Festival, etc..
It is because of the expense, as well as if it's an annual thing, they usually keep them up.
The one that's been annoying me is on my Yahoo homepage. They STILL have a link to "Things to do on New Years Eve" Now there's no reason for that to still be there other than they just have nothing new to put up.
I swear it'll be June 22nd and they'll still have it there.

Why don't they get "volunteers" to take care of those signs and billboards? (By volunteers, I mean prisoners or welfare recipients. Let them give back a little.)

That's a great idea. If you're sentenced to community service, this might be a good way to carry out that service, I believe.

They probably have to hire a private contractor and a crane for the billboard. Those who know how to take the billboard down without it falling down.
