Lynette Winter, who played Gidget's best friend "Larue" on the "Gidget" TV Series, made an appearance in a 1967 Episode of "Family Affair", playing "Wanda" a friend of Cissy's.

In that episode (entitled "The Butler Method"), she plays a friend of Cissy's...their plot centers around a dance to which the girls ask the guys to go with them. Cissy waits around till the last minute and ends up without a date (the boy she was supposed to go with broke his leg). Anyway, "Wanda" unintentionally rubs it in by showing off the dress she ordered to wear to the dance, and telling Cissy that she'll report everything that happens at the dance since Cissy "didn't have a date".

Here are a few screen shots of the episode, it's from Season 1... actually, it's the final episode of Season 1:

The look in her eyes in the 2nd pic is because she and Cissy were just introduced to an old friend of Uncle Bill's who happens to now be a movie star...in fact, the reason he was there was because he was going to be playing a "Gentleman's Gentleman" and he came over to observe Mr. French.

i'll post some more later, looks like some of the pics themselves are too big and exceed the file size limit...i'll crop them and post them later on.

A couple of shots of Cissy in her dress, and the closing credits. Cissy's outfit seemed a whole lot fancier than Wanda's.

I just watched this episode the other night! What a complete 180 from Larue!

I always wonder why Lynette didn't go on to do other sitcom work later on.....I think she was on Petticoat Junction for awhile, right?

Yes, she was on Petticoat Junction. She played Henrietta Plout.

Yes, her screen credits listed at IMDB is not really a very long list, but she appeared on some long running shows, such as "My Three Sons" , "Petticoat Junction", "Family Affair" and "The Real McCoys"

She also made an uncredited appearance in the original (Haley Mills) version of "The Parent Trap", as one of the girls staying at the camp. I don't know off hand if she had any speaking lines in that movie.

Those are great pics.

Thanks! For the record, I used a program called "VLC Media Player" to get the screen caps from the DVDs

VLC is a free download available at:

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

IIRC, Windows Media Player used to be able to produce screen caps, but at some point, that function was taken out of one of the versions.

Someone pointed out VLC to me, and it's a nice little program.

i've seen that movies a bunch of times--and yes, she has speaking lines. When i saw the movie a few years ago, I recognized her from Gidget.

Thanks for posting the pics. I've been away from this site for sometime and it was nice to return and see pictures of Lynette Winter ( or Mrs. Cessac as I knew her when she taught me 10th grade English back in 1974-75). What an outstanding teacher! Would love to hear from her if she ever reads this.:)
