Watching the DVD box set of the first couple of seasons this week reminded me of how much I enjoyed this couple back in the day. Of the two cousins, Balki was obviously the star of the duo and had a lot more confidence in himself than Larry did. Yeah, Larry could be greedy, petty, selfish and a liar, but it was also evident that he had a good heart and was just desperately trying to belong.

It tickled me watching his flirtation with Jennifer go one step forward, and two back - very awkward yet realistic as well. I loved how Larry took full advantage of the mistletoe over his door when Jennifer was around in the Christmas show. He bent over backwards to make up things when it was obvious to everyone that Jennifer liked him the way he was - despite his flaws. After all, she was the girl "out of his league", a knock-out, while he was short and painfully insecure. I loved it when he tried to impress her at the gym by pretending to get buff.

As the series went on, it was so sweet to know that even though Jennifer wasn't happy about some of the stunts Larry pulled, she still loved him and stuck by him. She even married him when he was in jail!! (He and Balki got arrested following the wild bachelor party thrown by Gorpley.)

I imagine that they are still (mostly) happily married, raising their family with Balki and Mary Anne there, too. I bet their sons (born in the series finales) are chips off the old block. I can just see Larry lying his fool head off trying to get his son into the best schools, etc.

It's a shame the rest of the series hasn't been released yet. Come on, Warner Brothers - snap to it!!

Yes they were perfectly matched. Makes wonder what Larry was so insecure about! He should have been as confident in his relationship with Jennifer as Balki was with Mary Anne.

But I think Larry's LACK of confidence made it all the more realistic. He was short, insecure and a chronic liar. I think he felt like he had to make himself "bigger" (so to speak) to keep Jennifer's interest. In that way, their relationship was much more complex than Balki and Mary Anne's.

Thank you, Marv - I'm speaking a little bit from my own experiences, but watching these episodes again as an adult makes them much more relatable. I didn't really get a lot of these observations watching the show as a kid during its original run.

I always find it fascinating to watch shows as an adult that I originally watched as a kid. It's fun to finally get the jokes that went over my head the first time and to understand the dialogue I didn't really "get" when I was younger. It gives you a whole new understanding of the characters and their situations. It's almost like a whole new show sometimes!

Thanks for the photos -- I loved this show and the cast!

Even though it was slap-stick at times, the situations were also true to life -- I really miss Perfect Strangers.

Exactly! The casting was letter perfect. I think Larry is one of the most relatable sitcom characters, ever.

Since he looks like he wants to restrain himself, I cannot help but believe he's about to say, "She's going to have a baah ..." like he did in that earlier episode (afraid to say "baby") in which Balki asked, "Sheep?" It was when he discovered Jennifer was knitting some booties.

I remember that - it turned out that a friend of hers was having a baby, and was knitting the booties for a shower gift. Great moment.
