View Full Version : Michael Vick returning to the NFL? James 02-21-2009, 02:47 AM Two teams are lining up already for "Ron Mexico"! http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=ArNCq81yHdGo0BoSmD11FolDubYF?slug=ap-interestinvick&prov=ap&type=lgns catlover79 02-21-2009, 02:50 AM NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!! :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang Marvo301 02-21-2009, 02:58 AM NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!! :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :wallbang :yeahthat catlover79 02-21-2009, 03:00 AM :yeahthat I put that so eloquently, didn't I? If the NFL is really serious about this, then I say PETA (and whoever else wants to join in) can picket outside NFL headquarters with torches and pitchforks!!! Marvo301 02-21-2009, 03:07 AM I put that so eloquently, didn't I? If the NFL is really serious about this, then I say PETA (and whoever else wants to join in) can picket outside NFL headquarters with torches and pitchforks!!! Yes, you were very eloquent! Your protest idea sounds great. And while they're at it PETA can also insist that the Miami Dolphins change their name to Miami Sea Kittens. Lee 02-21-2009, 03:10 AM I put that so eloquently, didn't I? If the NFL is really serious about this, then I say PETA (and whoever else wants to join in) can picket outside NFL headquarters with torches and pitchforks!!! I did not know you were for PETA catlover79 02-21-2009, 03:10 AM Yes, you were very eloquent! Your protest idea sounds great. And while they're at it PETA can also insist that the Miami Dolphins change their name to Miami Sea Kittens. The Sea Kittens... I lose it every time I hear that expression!! :brent catlover79 02-21-2009, 03:11 AM I did not know you were for PETA Usually I think they go overboard, but in this case I wouldn't blame them. Zoneboy 02-21-2009, 03:35 AM PETA can also insist that the Miami Dolphins change their name to Miami Sea Kittens. Dolphins don't qualify as sea kittens because they're mammals not fish and that's exactly why calling the Miami Dolphins 'the fish' maskes absolutely no sense. catlover79 02-21-2009, 03:48 AM Dolphins don't qualify as sea kittens because they're mammals not fish and that's exactly why calling the Miami Dolphins 'the fish' maskes absolutely no sense. You know, I never quite thought of it that way!! Marvo301 02-21-2009, 03:51 AM Dolphins don't qualify as sea kittens because they're mammals not fish and that's exactly why calling the Miami Dolphins 'the fish' maskes absolutely no sense. Well then can we call their GM "the Tuna" a sea kitten? Zoneboy 02-21-2009, 03:56 AM Well then can we call their GM "the Tuna" a sea kitten? Why not? I've never heard anyone order a tuna mammal sandwich. ;) catlover79 02-21-2009, 04:04 AM Why not? I've never heard anyone order a tuna mammal sandwich. ;) Now that just sounds nasty. puke:  Marvo301 02-21-2009, 04:04 AM Why not? I've never heard anyone order a tuna mammal sandwich. ;) me neither! catlover79 02-21-2009, 04:04 AM Well then can we call their GM "the Tuna" a sea kitten? Why do they call tuna "Chicken of the Sea", while we're on the subject??  Zoneboy 02-21-2009, 04:11 AM My thoughts on Michael Vick returning to the NFL can best be summed up by a recent visit to the Salvation Army thrift store my girlfriend and I took last week. I found a Vick Falcons jersey on the clothes rack for $1.50. I thought what the heck and bought it. When we left, She asked why I wanted that and I said to sell on eBay. I told her that when he gets out of prison, Some team will sign him and there will be a market for the jersey which even now is selling for $10-$20. If he doesn't make a comeback then all I've lost is $1.50. To be honest, I hope he never sets foot in the NFL again but if he does, The jersey is hanging in the closet. Big C 02-21-2009, 04:24 AM While I am of the majority that think Vick did a horrible thing in the first place that got him sent to jail, I'm not going to kick him out of football forever. In my book, dogfighting is nowhere near as terrible as hurting/killing fellow human beings. (Honestly, I am absolutely scared to death of dogs- My brother got mauled by a dog many years ago. To this day, I hate all dogs. I don't wish death on them, but I wish they would not hurt others. There are truly some dogs that are vicious, heartless, and evil that DESERVE to die. I don't like the fact that dogs HURT people as well.). JamesG 02-21-2009, 05:31 AM While I am of the majority that think Vick did a horrible thing in the first place that got him sent to jail, I'm not going to kick him out of football forever. So if I got this right, you are saying that since you really don't like dogs and that some dogs deserve to die that you find no problem with Vick running an illegal dog fighting operation where dogs rip each other apart just because no humans were harmed? Is that what you are saying? Hey abuse is abuse, whether it's against humans or animals. I don't think an athlete who advocated this should be back in the professionals again. JamesG 02-21-2009, 06:48 AM =Lee. Just because your brother got killed by a dog who was vicious does not mean you should view all dogs as being potentially vicious animals. He said mauled not killed. Mauling implies serious harm and not death. I could be wrong. I don't know if his brother (I hope not) died but maul doesn't mean death. bandito 02-21-2009, 10:27 AM So if I got this right, you are saying that since you really don't like dogs and that some dogs deserve to die that you find no problem with Vick running an illegal dog fighting operation where dogs rip each other apart just because no humans were harmed? Is that what you are saying? Hey abuse is abuse, whether it's against humans or animals. I don't think an athlete who advocated this should be back in the professionals again.Thank you. Mike Vick is a thug that should not be allowed to play professional sports again. These peice of sh*t owners who want Vick are a disgrace to the game. I say give Vick a job paying min wage, cleaning up after dogs at his local animal shelter. MonarC 02-21-2009, 10:33 AM :barf: This makes me sick but I am not surprised. Zoneboy 02-21-2009, 10:46 AM You need to get over your attitude of hatred toward dogs. Just because your brother got killed by a dog who was vicious does not mean you should view all dogs as being potentially vicious animals. Some breeds may have a disposition towards being aggressive, but that does not mean that all breeds are that way. He has just as much right to hate all dogs as those that hate all cats, snakes etc... and as already pointed out, He said mauled not mauled to death. I was mauled by a chow when I was 2 and although I remember nothing about it, I grew up with a fear and hatred of aggressive dogs that continues to this day but I don't hate all dogs. People are going to hate dogs or other animals for a variety of reasons and you really have no right telling anyone what they need to get over especially if you don't know the circumstances behind the situation. Mr. Television 02-21-2009, 11:00 AM Thank you. Mike Vick is a thug that should not be allowed to play professional sports again. These peice of sh*t owners who want Vick are a disgrace to the game. I say give Vick a job paying min wage, cleaning up after dogs at his local animal shelter. I totally agree. I don't want to see him in the NFL at all. The man is a disgrace. Big C 02-21-2009, 12:14 PM if I got this right, you are saying that since you really don't like dogs and that some dogs deserve to die that you find no problem with Vick running an illegal dog fighting operation where dogs rip each other apart just because no humans were harmed? I never said it was OK for Vick to do this. I even said in the orgianl quote "I am of the majority that think Vick did a horrible thing in the first place that got him sent to jail." But, I'm not going to give him the electric chair or life in prison. catlover79 02-21-2009, 12:15 PM Thank you. Mike Vick is a thug that should not be allowed to play professional sports again. These peice of sh*t owners who want Vick are a disgrace to the game. I say give Vick a job paying min wage, cleaning up after dogs at his local animal shelter. I agree 100%. That would be the PERFECT job for him. catlover79 02-21-2009, 12:17 PM I totally agree. I don't want to see him in the NFL at all. The man is a disgrace. Disgrace is FAR too kind of a word, but I know what you mean, Sonny. Big C 02-21-2009, 12:24 PM BTW, another thing: Pacman Jones has been involved in a nightclub shooting where a man got shot and paralyzed. If you ask me, that is a far worse crime than this. I am NOT defending Vick, but I ask this: Why is it that when a man shoots another human being, the NFL gave him a second chance, yet when a man does what he did to dogs, we all want to give him the death sentence? Mr. Television 02-21-2009, 01:54 PM BTW, another thing: Pacman Jones has been involved in a nightclub shooting where a man got shot and paralyzed. If you ask me, that is a far worse crime than this. I am NOT defending Vick, but I ask this: Why is it that when a man shoots another human being, the NFL gave him a second chance, yet when a man does what he did to dogs, we all want to give him the death sentence? I don't think he should be in the NFL either and I'm glad Jerry took out the trash finally. catlover79 02-21-2009, 02:10 PM :barf: This makes me sick but I am not surprised. :yeahthat Waterston_Fan 02-21-2009, 03:41 PM While I am of the majority that think Vick did a horrible thing in the first place that got him sent to jail, I'm not going to kick him out of football forever. Apparently the cat was sick or something but it wasn't a nice cat to my mom or aunt. Waterston_Fan 02-21-2009, 03:44 PM And it wouldn't surprise me if Vick did come back to the NFL. We seem to be a second chance society. If a guy is involved in a shooting that kills a man and is found not guilty, we give him a second chance. (Lewis) If the NFL allows DUI or drug offenders or even a thug back in the league then we are a second chance society. littlebelle 02-21-2009, 04:23 PM I am morally, ethically and emotionally opposed to dog fighting and I believe anybody who partakes in this HORRIFIC activity should be sentenced for life. I don't give a flying **** if they're good on the field, I want them locked up for life. Big C 02-21-2009, 04:52 PM When I said the comments I said, I am not saying that Vick SHOULD come back to football- I never once said I am on his side. (As I have said, I think it's an awful thing he did, but I am not going to say he's worse than other athletes who have been involved in drugs or the death of others. IMO, Vick is just a dime a dozen when it comes to athletes who do stupid things off the field. He's not the first, and he won't be the last. Do I think dogfighting is a horrible thing? Yes. But do I think dogfighting is the worst crime possible for a human to commit? No. I just have this feeling that there are some people who act as if dogfighting is the worst thing for anyone to do. It's awful, but it's not the #1 worst thing possible. He should still serve his jail sentence, and I don't see him playing pro football again, but I'm not going to sentence him to death. Big C 02-21-2009, 05:27 PM So if I got this right, you are saying that since you really don't like dogs and that some dogs deserve to die that you find no problem with Vick running an illegal dog fighting operation where dogs rip each other apart just because no humans were harmed? Is that what you are saying? No. What I meant was that I feel a lot of people are making this to be the worst thing possible, whereas I have heard of other athletes doing things that should land them in jail for longer periods of time. I remember in 2003, Dany Heatley, a hockey player, was charged with vehiciular homicide when, while drunk, he crashed his car into a tree at high speed, which ultimately resulted in the death of his passenger. That is the type of crime that should land one in prison for years, if not decades, yet he served no jail time, and got probation and did community service. I'm sorry, but there is no way I can say that dogfighting is a worse crime than vehiciular homicide. I am NOT saying I am in favor of dogfighting. What I am saying is that dogfighting should be considered the worst thing ever. It's awful, but not THE worst. Janice 02-22-2009, 03:12 PM No. What I meant was that I feel a lot of people are making this to be the worst thing possible, whereas I have heard of other athletes doing things that should land them in jail for longer periods of time. Nobody said that Vick should get death, the electric chair, and nobody said it's the worst thing in the world. People are saying that they don't believe he belongs in the NFL. You disagree, fine, but way to cloud an issue.
