Is anyone planning on watching? Even though last year's show was a train wreck, I still love the Oscars.

The front runners:

Best Picture - Slumdog Millionaire
Lead Actor - Mickey Rourke/Sean Penn
Lead Actress - Kate Winslet
Supporting Actor - Heath Ledger
Supporting Actress - Penelope Cruz

Who I'd like to win/see upset:

Best Picture - don't care
Lead Actor - Mickey Rourke
Lead Actress - Melissa Leo or Meryl Streep
Supporting Actor - Philip Seymour Hoffman
Supporting Actress - Marisa Tomei (though I'd also be very satisfied with either Amy Adams or Viola Davis--Penelope did NOTHING in her film to deserve an Oscar)

I'm rooting for Mickey Rourke, Marissa Tomei. I'm still miffed that Gran Torino was snubbed.

I'll probably tape it.

The Oscars seem to be more of a drag every year, no wonder ratings are low.

Is there a way to see all this on YouTube or something?

For majority of these award shows I don't care to watch the whole entire ceremony.

I just look for the results when the thing is over and maybe watch a few clips from the winners I'm interested in online.

The Academy generally doesn't allow the show to be posted on YouTube. Every now and then a clip of a winning category will slip on by, though.

Marisa has such a slim chance at winning, but it would make my night if she did. As someone on another forum said, watching Marisa in that movie was like spying on a real person for two hours, not like watching someone acting in a role. That is so true. She really became the character.

Don't plan on watching. I just look to see who wins.

I'm curious if they will give Ledger the Oscar though.

I'd be shocked if he didn't win. They are apparently flying in his family from Australia, and there's already been talk about signing a contract for the Oscar to go to his daughter "if" he wins.
