Vince McMahon leased out space in the Paramount Theater in Times Square to open up a wrestling restauarant. The place was open from 1999-2003; originally being called WWF New York and in its last year had its name changed to The World.

The complex had a night club/music venue in the basement, retail store, game room, and big screens throughout the place playing what else but wrestling events.

The place was packed during main events such as Raw and Smackdown and occasionally superstars would show up to be the hosts in the restaurant of said events.

The place sounded like a good idea but unfortunately misconceptions and bad service brought the place down.

For some reason majority of people would come from all across the world thinking that they were guaranteed to see the stars. Some thought that they will spot people at the bar, club, and eating in the restaurant. When wrestlers were at the place the place got too crowded and rowdy that people complained at how the event was handled.

Also, while the place was packed during main events hardly anyone was there on "off nights" and the place was pretty much dead. Many people complained that the food took too long to get to you, the hostilty of the people who went there, and the menu prices.

Eventually after a 4 year run The World came to a close. The place just didn't work. The building stood closed for 2 years until the Hard Rock Cafe took it over in 2005.

I went here about maybe 2 times if I recall. It seemed like a TGIF Fridays with a wrestling theme. I have a few memorabila from here, a WWF New York beer glass, arcade token, and hat.

Well you two didn't miss much.

Yeah the place sucked. At the time it was the place wrestling fans HAD to visit.
