Did anyone buy or get copies of the Japanese release of the series on commercial dvd? I'd be interested. It's no longer available there and when it came out was over $150 U.S.

i tried to get the japanese set when it came out, but they wouldn't deliver to the united states, so i'm definitely still interested in getting a set also.

In regards to the Japanese Bad News Bears box set. It's still listed on Amazon Japan. Both new and used. If you can't make a deal with Amazon to ship maybe the person who has the used set.
Let me know if you get it. It's just to costly for me to invest in, at this time.

well, i have some good news and some bad news about the japanese release.. the good news is i found someone willing to sell me their used set - the bad news is this release is the japanese dubbed version only (there is NOT an alternate english audio track - despite what the official product description says) however each episode does mysteriously lapse into about 30 seconds of the original english dialogue, (i'm just guessing these segments were probably originally cut to make extra room for the japanese opening sequence), and that may be where the mix-up in the product description happened. all-in-all, it's still nice to have the complete set (even though i don't speak japanese). the quality is great and it does include all 26 episodes (that's 3 more than the official episode lists i've found for the show), and they're all the original uncut 24 1/2 minute edits..
