Guys - everyone's pets are all so adorable! Tara, Bo reminds me of our old spaniel named Freckles (first pet I had). Chava looks like a beautiful mountain lion! I love all of Lauren's pets. And Janice - those are a couple of the most beautiful cats I've ever seen!!!!!! You could be making thousands off them in commercials! ;)

Grady died early this morning, I have no idea what happened. I left home for a few hours yesterday afternoon and he seemed fine. When I returned just after midnight he was breathing heavily and couldn't stand-up. I called the Vet and of course I got a recording telling me about their emergency hours which are in another city 30 miles away but by the time I'd managed to get through to someone he had already died. :(

Thanks, Ann and LuLu, I've lost pets before but each time I knew what happened. I looked online and the symptoms indicated either saddle thrombosis which is a type of blood clot or a snake bite. Of course I can't rely on that so I guess I'll never know for sure.

^ I know it probably bothers you not being able to figure out what happened. When my cat Bubha died a few years ago, I couldn't figure out what happened either. Again I'm sorry about Grady.

Charles, my deepest condolences to you in losing Grady. I am very sorry about your lost. Grady was such a precious and cute cat...:bighug:

It's happened again, My cat, Tigger was fine one minute and when I outside to get in my car, He was lying on the carport and not moving. I thought he was being stubborn and just didn't want to move so I nudged him slightly with my foot and he still wouldn't move so it seemed obvious that something was wrong. I picked him up and he was gasping for air which is what happened to Grady. The nearest Vet on Sunday is 30 miles away but I knew I'd never get him there on time. I was on my way to my Girlfriend's house to watch the Super Bowl and I was already late but I couldn't leave him so I just held him in my arms and he was gone within a few minutes. Once again as with Grady this happens on a Sunday when emergency care is not available locally and we have 3 animal hospitals here in town and the one I take my pets to is less than 2 miles from my home. I doubt anything could've been done for him but I think it's a shame that none of the local Vets offer emergency care on nights and weekends.

Thanks, Losing a pet is sad but the worse part is not knowing what happened. Grady was Tigger's Uncle so my best guess is that whatever killed them was hereditary unless there's another logical explanation. :(

It sounds like it's something hereditary. But I think cats die unexpectedly some times, just like people die unexpectedly some times.

In just over a week I've lost 2 cats, First Tigger now Oreo who was hit by a car yesterday. :(

Yeah, we still have two cats left as well, but seeing them is like seeing just 2/3 of a trio.
