Saying that it plans to focus on "tween" and younger boys but include girls, the Walt Disney Company on Thursday announced the creation of Disney Xd, which will combine a cable channel offering sports and action programing with a website offering games, music and social networking.

Until now, much of Disney's specialized cable programming for the 6-14-year-old set has been aimed principally at girls, with such shows as Hannah Montana, Kim Possible, the High School Musical specials, and the upcoming Jonas Brothers series.

And just as Hannah Montana features a character who lives a double life as an ordinary teen and a famous rock star, Disney Xd has a show in production called Aaron Stone about a boy who leads a double life as a crime fighter.

For a long time, parents have been complaining, that while Disney does alot of things for girls (i.e. the Princesses, Tinkerbelle, fairies, etc.) it doesn't do much for boys. Maybe this is its start to make up for that.

At least they seem to be off to a good start. I saw the ratings for the first episode of "Aaron Stone," and while I don't remember what they were now, the show was highly successful. We'll just have to see whether it continues to be successful, and whether the other programs planned for the channel will be as successful.

Instaed of comming up with more fancy channels, they need to see about fixing their shows which is filled with nothing more than skinny, too thin, anorexial girls trying to dated the too perfect boy while disssing their parents(whom act like idoits anyway):or the boy trying to date the hotty-hot-hotty girl while dissing his parents! There's nothing "Family friendly" about that, nor this channel. All they want to do is sell their overprise products, and put on shows to me undermind these kids!
