As much as I love The Beatles and the whole British invasion era I do like 70's music better. The Doobies, Wings, Three Dog Night, The Guess Who, CCR, James Taylor, Elton John, America,Chicago, The Spinners, The Chi-Lites,and yes........... even The BeeGees!;) The 70's rocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it really depends on what decade(s) you were young in and that will be the one you like the best because you can relate to it through memories, etc..

I still think the late 60s and 70s were the best. 80s wasn't bad, 90s only a few songs I liked and now....well put it this way - I listen to a classic rock station 95% of the time so what's that tell you. ;)

The 1960's for me. Especially from 1960-67. Not that big on some of the psychedelic music or the bubble gum stuff.

The 1960s thru 1970s are my favorite decades for music. I also like some 50s, and the occassional song from today. I'm okay with 90s music, but I really can't stand 80s music. I grew up in the 1980s (Born in 81), but I listened to Oldies stations instead of (then) current music. Of course that doesn't mean that every song from the 80s irritates me. But the majority of it does.

I'm always buying Oldies CDs whenever I can find them (as long as they're not New Stereo Recordings).

I repeat 1960s and 1970s. I repeat again, 1960s and 1970s.

70's baby!!! Zepplin, ACDC, Boston, Pink Floyd. I think I was a groupie in a past life!!!:happyface

Every decade had something special. Yet, there is something about 70's classic rock. Free bird!!!

My favorite will always be the 1950s (even though I wasn't around to experience it). Pure, true rock 'n' roll, great vocal bands, and some of the older style sounds still around like Perry Como and Jimmy Dorsey ("So Rare" from 1957 was a big hit).

Possibly the 1960s had the most variety. Still '50s-type music in 1960-1962 plus the other types of music which was around later in the '60s.

1970s was the last decade I could pick out quite a few songs I like. I don't care for the 1980s and later.

The 1970s brought us Robert Palmer. That's all I have to say. :)

This is a hard decision, I am kind of stuck between the 60's and 70's. Althought the 70's had some bada** rockin mucis the 60's did bring in The Beatles , Cream, Hendrix, and Santana.

Check out this performance at Woodstock 69' Santana- Soul Sacrifice. Awesome:rock:

http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p150/blakf0xo4/mank_band.jpgInteresting, since Jimi Hendrix had died in 1970 and the Experience had been broken up a few years prior. But there was no denying his impact on rock and roll since.

As far as what the 90's were known for, there was NU-metal, emo/screamo,
metalcore, melodic death metal from Sweden and Finland, the new American Metal, and the return of guitar shred, as well as a large number of metal artists from the 80's who had their biggest resurgence of fame since their heyday twenty or so years before. A very metal decade. Thank the metal gods. :notworthy

I would say the 80's were the biggest decade of music. The problem with the 2000's is that the music industry has suffered a serious decline due to internet downloading, and radio programmers are trying to "play it safe" and phase out rock.

i don't know about the best, but in terms of being born in the 80s myself and having lived through the 80s, 90s and 00s, my personal preference would be the 80s

60s-80s.

Me too; but I also like the late 50's as well. As another poster said, 'I don't know about the best...' Music I like, another generation may think sucks. I think what people consider "the best" is in most cases music they can relate to when growing up, which has the most meaning for them.

Yeah, there are 50's song I like as well. I have the 50s on 5, the 60s on 6, the 70s on 7, and the 80s on 8 (XM channels) playing in my car 95% of the time.

it very much depends on the type of music you were brought up on and grew up on. i like some 70s music, particuarly from the disco period, but because of my familiarity with the 80s being an 80s child myself, a lot of the records back then were ones i loved listening to. of course there were a few crappy ones and some there are worth forgetting, but the 80s wasn't as bad as others have made out. yes there was a lot of cheese, but there was a lot of good as well

yeah, but also the 2000s has had and has been the worst decade, insofar as quality of records is concerned. i don't like a lot of today's music in the charts.

Las setentas trump all. Everything was TOP-NOTCH. Everything. Pop, country, soul, rock, disco...all at their very best.

Second would be the 90s. Like the 70s, the 90s featured lots of diverse crossover groups who had successes across the board.
