View Full Version : All 156 episodes on DVD Offered Here ethelmaepotter 02-13-2009, 03:11 AM Is this legit? Does anyone know what the quality of these would be? http://www.planetdvdstore.com/product.php?productid=37175 Benno123 02-13-2009, 08:19 PM I don't know the quality but I can promise you that this set is NOT legit. The complete series has never been available either on VHS or DVD. TeeVeeCloset 02-13-2009, 08:32 PM STAY AWAY!!!! CBS/Paramount will start releasing "The Lucy Show" in 2009...although in its typical butchered edited way......BUT .....I am convinced we will see the entire series released by the end of 2011. And stay tuned for the entire series of "HERE"S LUCY" by MPI starting in 2010 or sooner as well as the Lucille Ball Specials! Marvo301 02-13-2009, 08:36 PM There are several clues in this advertisement that tell this set is not legit. First it is advertised as all 156 episodes. When legitimate products of this nature are put out they are advertised as complete series boxed sets never by the number of individual episodes. Second they advertise that the episodes are in chronological order. Legitimate sets almost always have the episodes in the order they aired. Sometimes this coincides with chronological order but often it does not. The third and probably biggest clue is that this set comes on region free DVD's. Legitimate sets always come out on region specific DVD's. TeeVeeCloset 02-13-2009, 08:50 PM Or you can just go to amazon, if its not there, it not official.....plus if the site originates from canada, its not official.....this has been discussed here numerous times, all these sites offering complete series, region free dvd's are RIP-OFF's.....episodes are cut, off TV, or missing episodes.....DON'T BUY! unless you want some incomplete crappy dvd's with paper labels that will also freeze up on your dvd player! go to www.tvshowsondvd.com to check their official released TV show list as well....... Benno123 02-14-2009, 11:32 AM To my knowledge - and TeeVee can help me with this - the only official releases of any episodes of The Lucy Show were on the 5 VHS tapes available from Columbia House if I'm not mistaken. There's also the clip available on one of the Gomer Pyle volumes, and is the complete episode with Robert Stack available on the Untouchables release? You are correct on all counts except I cannot confirm the complete Robert Stack episode on the Untouchables release as I am not a collector of that series.........of course we can count all the public domain releases as "official" but not really worth anything due to quality and other factors. Benno123 02-16-2009, 04:34 PM I find it ironic that CBS has been saying The Lucy Show DVD's will be coming soon, blah blah blah and now we'll be getting complete series releases of Here's Lucy AND Lucille Ball specials BEFORE her 1960s series. So be it I guess .... On you tube, I watched the Here's Lucy episode- Lucy And Aladdins Lamp. It is an original film with original commercials. It's a mildly funny episode, good for a few chuckles. What's really noticeable is the way these older shows were made, with professionalism, care and quality. So much better than the junk that's produced today. They sure don't make em anymore like they used to. storrs19 02-17-2009, 12:33 PM HL was always my favorite series of hers. I watched that episode myself the other day and loved it. Lucy may have been difficult to work with but she ran a tight trim ship and the end product was always professionally done and good for man laughs with Lucy taking the most falls and spills until the end of HL in early 1974. I am very glad this series is finally coming out on dvd as I have been waiting for years. |
