It bugged me that Nicole always referred to Mark as Cousin Mark. Did anyone else get bugged?

Yes, it was a little bit weird. But I guess it was because he still was so much older than her (and from an older generation), that it might have been considered rude of her, if she had just called him "Mark".

Well I had cousins older me and I just called them by their first name.

I'm not saying, that it's that way in every family. But maybe it's that way in some families? I don't know... It was just my theory.

And yes, it does remind me of Pam on "The Cosby show", when she always said "Cousin Claire" and "Cousin Cliff". Not to mention, that Raven's character on that show, Olivia, always called them "Mrs Huxtable" and "Dr Huxtable". I mean, yeeesh!

Well I guess in Pam's case, Cliff and Claire were old enough to be her parents so I guess saying cousin Cliff made sense. But in Nicole's case, her and Mark were only about 14 years apart so I guess it wouldn't have too weird if she just said Mark

I agree - with Balki it was sweet and endearing. With Nicole it was just irritating.

You know, it's hard to explain. Larry and Balki were both adults, cousins and best friends. Balki was an immigrant, and had such a sweet, innocent and optomistic view of life. With him it just came naturally. With Nicole, she just came as across as an annoying kid forced to say "cousin Mark" because it sounded so fake.

I agree and feel the same way. Balki was an immigrant new to American culture and it seemed like he was grateful to Larry for helping him out. With Nicole on HWMC it sounded totally fake.
