For its 9:30 appearance The Big Bang Theory got 12.72 million viewers, and a 4.5/10 18-49 demo rating. These were all series highs. The best part was the great rentention out of Two and a Half Men. It retained 85% of total viewers and 94% of the 18-49 demo. Very, very solid numbers, and they probably would have been even better except that everything was down a bit on the night due to the Presidential press conference. Great night for BBT.

It would be great for the show, as it would probably do about 90% of Two and a Half Men's ratings every week. However, it is not good for CBS. They need BBT to anchor the night at 8:00. How I Met Your Mother would die without the BBT lead in. They tried HIMYM at 8:00 twice without much success. It needs the BBT lead in. Also, CBS uses 9:30 to launch new sitcoms. I think BBT will be at 8:00 for quite some time to come. It is better for CBS, but not the show.
