Amber Alert Issued in Florida for Missing Little Girl

Authorities in northeast Florida are searching for a little girl who disappeared early Tuesday morning.

An Amber Alert was issued for Haleigh Cummings, who lives with her father and his girlfriend in Putnam County.

There were conflicting reports about how old the child is. Police told FOX News that Haleigh is 4 ½ years old, but The Associated Press said she's 5.

Haleigh was reported missing after her father's girlfriend discovered the child wasn't in her bed about 3:30 a.m., police told FOX News.

The woman told police that the door to the home was not locked at the time, according to Sgt. Jason Nettles of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities are concerned because at least 25 registered sex offenders live near the missing girl's home in Satsuma, Fla.

Haleigh is 3 feet tall with blond hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about the girl is urged to contact the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at (386) 329-0800 or call 911.

yeah , especially when you live in a big state i would even lock them during the day if I was home..........we lock our doors every night here in ny because you don't know whos wondering the streets at night i pray this will be a good ending i read this yesterday and i'm like not again! She is the same age as that Caylee Anthony little girl. so sad and sick people out in this world! Why can't adults leave little kids alone? they are to young for this bs:mad:

I've said it before and I'll say it again: How many more innocent women and children need to be victimized and even killed before lawmakers make sex crimes punishable by life without parole or even the death penalty? :mad:

Its terrible that more and more little innocent children are being kidnapped and/ or murdered. I hope that this little girl can be found and returned home. Does anyone remember the following kidnapping cases?

* Jacob Wetterling ( In 1989, in St. Joseph, Minnesota, this boy was kidnapped by a masked gunman and was forced into the woods. To this day, he has not been seen or heard from.)

* Steven Stayner ( Kidnapped in California in the '80s by a guy who claimed to be a priest. Held him captive for 7 years. He escaped, but died years later in a motorcycle accident.)

* Jimmy Rice (Abducted in 1995 by Juan Carlos Chavez in Redlands, Florida.)

* Adam Walsh ( Kidnapped from Hollywood, Florida mall in 1981. Son of America's Most Wanted host John Walsh.)

* Emmett Till (Kidnapped and murdered in 1956 by a white woman because Emmett whistled at her and this made her upset because he was black.)

* Kevin Andrew Collins (Disappeared February 10, 1984 and gained national attention as one of the first missing children to appear on milk cartons. Also appeared on the cover of Newsweek Magazine in 1984.)

* Nyleen Kay Marshall ( Kidnapped in 1983 from a state park in Montana.)

I feel so sorry for what has happened to these innocent kids. They dont deserve this and their family members dont deserve this. I hope that Haleigh will be found and returned home.

I have to go back to the site again. I saw this on www.foxnews.com You can go take a look to if you want! There are Sick people out in this world, they either do this for money, or they are crazy in the head, but why put a little kid , in the situation when they know she cant do anything to safe her self ? It's very,very,very, SAD!!!!!!
