During the past couple of years, I have done a lot of comparing and contrasting of episodes of this sereis with episodes of "The Brady Bunch". In most cases in which I wrote about "Samantha's Protest", I have compared it to "The Snooper Star". I looked at Cindy's bubble being burst in regards to being discovered as the new Sherliy Temple with Katie's bubble being burst in terms of getting asked out by the handsome guy from the protest. It seems like most of the viewers of both shows look at the outcome as a form of poetic justice. However, over on the "Brady Bunch" page, someone recently started a thread about the episode called "A Fistfull of Reasons". This poster said that Peter did not act at all like a typical kid who turned the tables on a bully. I responded to this thread by pointing out that he was simply trying to make the point that two wrongs never made a right. Just in case you are interested, this thread already has a bunch of responses offering all sorts of different points of view! In any event, you might say that in "Samantha's Protest" all of the babes except Katie acted as if two wrongs did make a right! Early in the episode, we have a very overconfident Katie thinking that the handsome boy that she and Julie walked past was not calling his dog but whisteling at her! She ended up meeting the same guy at the protest. At this point she acted in a manner that was, in the words of Julie (disgusting)! However, after all was said and done, Katie learned that that boy was taking "Samantha" to a movie the next day! She really enjoyed bursting Katie's bubble and Nell and Julie really enjoyed rubbing Katie's nose in it. Maybe, if Peter Brady had been there, he could have given the ladies an enlightening talk about how they should win gracefully and let Katie loose with dignity!
