Three years separate sisters Vanessa and Laura Marano, and they don’t look remarkably alike. Still, if you didn’t know better, it would be easy to mistake them for twins.
They complete each other’s sentences. They talk zealously about each other’s work. They share equally high ambitions.
The Agoura Hills sisters are passionately pursuing the craft of acting that they have loved and studied for as long as they can remember.
They have been guided by their parents — dad Damiano, chair of the Modern Language Department at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, where he teaches Italian and Spanish, and mom Ellen, a former actress herself.
Ellen Marano in particular has nourished the girls’ talents from their beginnings doing community theater and improv through today, as multitalented actresses in television and movies.
Vanessa, 16, appears as Haley McGuire in the new TNT series “Trust Me,” starring Tom Cavanaugh (“Ed”) and Eric McCormack (“Will and Grace”).
Laura, 13, who played Becca as a girl in the 2007 hit movie “Superbad,” has appeared recently in TV series including “Dexter” and “Gary Unmarried.”
