My aunt sent me this info and I thought it was pretty cool. I had no idea that WD-40 was so useful. :D

-------------------------------------

A lady got up very early one morning and went outside to pickup the
Sunday paper, she noticed someone had sprayed red paint all around
the sides of the neighbors brand new beige truck. She went over and
woke him up and gave him the bad news. He was, of course extremely
upset.

And they stood there trying to figure out what could be done about
the problem. They decided there wasn't much recourse but to wait
until Monday, since nothing was open. Just then another neighbor came
out of his house, surveyed the situation and immediately went to get
his WD-40 out and cleaned the red paint off with it. Guess What! It
cleaned up that paint withou t harming the original paint on the
truck! I'm impressed!!

Water Displacement #40. The product began from a search for A rust
preventative solvent and de greaser to protect Missile parts. WD-40
was created in 1953 by three Technicians at the San Diego Rocket
Chemical Company. Its name comes from the project that was to find a
'water displacement' compound. They were successful with the fortieth
formulation, thus WD-40. The Corvair Company bought it in bulk to
protect their atlas missile parts.

Ken East (one of the original founders) says there is nothing in
WD-40 that would hurt you...' IT IS MADE FROM FISH OIL' . When you
read the 'shower door' part, try it. It's the first thing that has
ever cleaned that spotty shower door. If yours is plastic, it works
just as well as glass. It is a miracle! Then try it on your
stovetop... It is now shinier than it has ever been before.

my father-in-law sprays it on his lures when he goes fishing - either it attracts fish, or keeps them lubricated.

 Let's hope fish don't use like KY Jelly!!

It's great stuff - hate the smell though. I've used it on sticky zippers and it works a lot better than a candle or soap.

On health groups WD was mentioned for squeeky knees, and if Fish Oil is main ingredient, now I'm thinking about it again, why not rub it on troubled knees.

Interesting Video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQwvwh4Njtk

Oil the joints.

WD-40's main ingredients as supplied in aerosol cans, according to the US Material Safety Data Sheet information,[16] and with the CAS numbers interpreted:[17]

45-50 % low vapor pressure aliphatic hydrocarbon (isoparaffin)
<35% petroleum base oil (non hazardous heavy paraffins)
<25% aliphatic hydrocarbons (same CAS number as the first item, but flammable)
2-3% carbon dioxide (propellant)

Dude: Fish Oil?

In ice storms and in below zero weather, spraying WD-40 on car doors and car door frames will keep car doors from freezing shut.

I'm tempted to rub a little WD into my narley knee but a little fearful too BUT when I think of all the ointments I use and I have been using DMSO (solvent) for years as those who know about DMSO do, and many even drink a little, I do not... Read up on DMSO for industrial and it's used by many in the alternative healing world.

If you have a garage door, I recommend that you spray a little WD-40 across the springs. It will prevent friction that leads to breakage. You can also use Liquid Wrench or other penetrating lubricants.

Well, I've thought abut this wonder stuff for my knee but never did it. I'm going to start now with olive oil daily internally. I started it but didn't following thru...it's GOOD OIL. A friend on another forum just mentioned it too...so a good reminder.

Also a good coating to restore appearance of oxidized finishes.

We had a 40 year old bank branch that the exterior shell was glass panels and bronze anodized aluminum frames. The anodized finish was all faded and discolored. Took plastic "brillo" type scrub pads to remove the excess crud, and then wiped them down with wd-40.....and the building looked brand new.

Just like those commercials you see where they take some faded old car in a junk yard and wipe it with a "miracle" polish, and the car looks brand new
