Have you tried logging on to JumpTheShark.com (http://www.jumptheshark.com) lately? Two things:

1. It's now powered by TV Guide (or, as I like to call it, TV CRIED! Hopefully this economic mess can drag TV Guide down with it just like it did Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns, etc., so that it's forced to unload it and make it independent again), as in tvguide.com/jumptheshark

2. You can no longer read the comments about individual shows. That bites!

water it down, put it in a standard wrapper, watch the uniqueness that made it special die.

Arrggh! You're right! Apparently, unless they've been hidden somewhere, all the comments are gone now, and there are just the various JTS categories w/ just a brief description of what they meant, and NO examples! Then the rest of the page is just some sort of news/gossip page. TV Guide has ^^&*&^%-up this website more than it did its own magazine, and this is from a former 26-year subscriber and collector of the magazine. I let the subscription die when the magazine turned into a pathetic version of Entertainment Weekly.

Here's the other thread that was started in "Chit Chat" about JTS! I'm still reeling from the loss of this once-great website!! :( I mean, how could they sell out to TV Guide?!

I've decided to create my own "Jump the Shark" discussion forum. It isn't perfect by any means (it's quite bare bones right now), but I consider this a start of sorts:

TV Tome and Jump The Shark were once great websites that have gone under.
Welcome to the hell that is Web 2.0.

I misses the comments too. On days when I didn't have much to do I used to read the comments and get a few laughs out of it.

(insert Stone Cold Steve Austin's voice):

"WHAT?!"

Jump the Shark has jumped its own shark? "WHAT?!"

They've cut off the comments and I'm not supposed to read them? WHAT?

(insert Beavis and Butt-Head's voice)

Butt-Head: "This sucks!"

Beavis: "It really sucks!"

Trying to create a discussion forum from scratch is way harder than I anticipated. So in the mean time, I'm offering everybody to join a Yahoo! club that I just started:

The owner of JTS actually sold out to TV Guide almost 3 years ago. He used to have a blog on the TV Guide website until TV Guide abruptly shut down all of their blogs about 6 months ago. I think the absorption of JTS is a step in the direction of making TV Guide an online-only presence. I think the comments will eventually come back - its the heart of JTS!

Speaking of TV GUIDE, I just started a subscription (my last one ended in 2006) - one year for $19.95. For paying in full, they sent me a 'Thank You' with an 'extra special' offer: I can add another full year for just $39.95! Yep, so that means I can get two full years for $60!

Does anyone there even read these offers before they're mailed out?

http://www.bonethefish.com/index.php?msg=

TVGuide crushed a site that was near and dear to many viewers, and had us laughing daily. The powers that be at TV Guide decided: let's take a great community, a very interesting concept and a ton of valuable input and make it a redirect to a subdirectory of garbage that looks like a tabloid. That was the great demise of one of the greatest websites of all time, which unfortunately fell victim to its own namesake (which will not be named here, but we are sure you can figure it out)!

We vowed to keep the spirit of "the site that shall never be named" alive in theme and spirit. That spirit was given a name in March of 2009- "Bone the Fish". This early time frame is when things can fall apart without the help of the fans - be it a movie series, tv show, celebrity or movie group. We value the opinions of our new fans and community, and we realize that people indeed want to vote on their favorite BTF moment.

So take a minute, sign up for the new BTF revolution and comment and vote until your fingers are worn to the bone!

The magazine won't exist in two years.
