I'm so sorry. It's so hard to lose a pet. They're one of the family. :(

I am so sorry, too.:(

I, among so many others, know how difficult it is to lose a pet. My sister & I were fostering a dog for the past 6 months, and Hannah passed away Jan.22nd. Whether you have a pet for 6 months or 16 years, it's still hard.

I say this all the time but also take comfort that you gave Simbe a great life.

I'm very sorry to hear about Simbe, but am glad she is now free of suffering. I hope that you can find peace, and move on... but I know it is tough, and I will pray for you.

RIP Simbe:(

Awww im so sorry to hear that. 16 years is a long time. I know how bad that hurts. I lost my cat puzzle back in 1998. I had him for 10 years and he also was very sick and suffereing. It took me so long to get over it. Like you said at least she is not suffering. She was lucky to have lived a long happy life with you and your family.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Simbe. As you say though, he's free of suffering and is running around chasing butterflies and mice at the Rainbow Bridge until you can be together again.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I know just how you feel. I mourned my cat for years, still do actually. Yes, take comfort that Simbe isn't suffering anymore. She lives on in your heart forever.

I'm sorry to hear about your cat. It's hard to let pets go, especially when they give us nothing but unconditional love.

Sorry to hear about your cat. I'm a cat lover!!! I've had a lot of cats come and go in my life. Sounds like Simbe was a lucky cat to have had such a loving owner & home.

I am so sorry:( I lost a pet (my dog) last August, and I know how you feel. My dog was like a best friend, and I still miss her. Your cat will always be with you, in a special way.

OH Nuts!

I'm so sorry to hear about Simbe. I remember when I lost my cat Satchmo back in the 90s. He was a big ol Tom - sweet as an angel to me but couldn't stand most other cats. So he got to be the only one in the house which was fine with me as he was a joy. He even licked my face sometimes. I still miss him.

Aww I had a cat called Satchmo (after the great Louis Armstrong of course). His littermate was Little Black Sambo (o.k. - so we weren't a politically correct family). I still have horrible memories of watching them both get hit by cars right out in front of our house.
They were sweet little kittens those two and would have grown into beautiful Toms. Their dad was a huge tomcat that lived down the street. Our cat was always hooking up with him. He wasn't that friendly to people but sure was a beautiful big black cat.

I was 5 years old when that happened and they were just kittens. Just shows how each pet can leave a mark in your heart for as long as you live. In that respect, they never do truly leave us.

Are you talking about The Rainbow Bridge poem? I was already familiar with it. I just got a condolence card from my vet for my dog Hannah, and the Rainbow Bridge poem was enclosed.

By the edge of a wood, at the foot of a hill,
is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
when their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears go forward, eyes dart front and back,
then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
the time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
and then, side-by-side,
they cross over...together.

OMG What a beautiful poem!

Thank you!! That means alot!

The poem brings tears to my eyes when I think of all the pets lost over the years.

Not to be morbid, but on the day Hannah had to be put to sleep, my vet told me she still had to euthanize 4 other pets that day. I don't think I could ever be a vet, just for that.:(

That's the EXACT reason I didn't become a vet or even technician. I know I couldn't handle it. I was thinking about joining the SPCA as an officer, but I think even that would haunt me terribly.
Although I did muster the courage to put my Smokey down back in 1995. I grew up with him - age 13 to 34. I broke my heart, but I made sure he was in my arms and was the last thing he heard, felt, smelled or saw as he crossed over. You never forget them and they do stay in your heart forever - in a sense, even more than humans do.

Yeah, I always have my pets cremated. I could never bring myself to bury any of my pets.

Were you able to take any photos of Simbe? That's another great way to keep her memory alive. I think I have as many photos of my pets in my house as I do of my family!!
