NBC has ordered 12 more episodes of the hidden-camera show "Howie Do It."

The series has boosted the network's average in its Fridays at 8 p.m. slot by 64% this season, even though the show has performed modestly. "Howie" has averaged 6.5 million viewers and a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49.

" 'Howie Do It' has proven to be a solid performer for NBC on Friday nights," said Paul Telegdy, NBC's head of alternative programming. "America loves to laugh along with Howie, and we think his latest pranks in these new episodes will be even more clever and entertaining."

The only problem with the show is, with Howie involved in some of the pranks, its obvious its him. The people being "Punk'd" must know its him.

I recorded it, I haven't seen it yet.

I know! I'd know him a mile away just from his voice. And the wigs and glasses are just lame. I swear some know it's him and just play along.

I don't know if all shows have been taped in Toronto or not, but especially here he's really recognized. Plus, they blabbed it all over the news when he had to go to the hospital for chest pains - everyone knew he was in Toronto and taping the show.

To me it would be better if he just left himself out of it like Ashton would and let other people pull the pranks and then he comes out at the end like Alan Funt used to do.

Candid Camera was a classic. None of these pale imitations(Totally Hidden Video,Punked,Howie Do It, etc.) can hold a candle to it.

I agree, although you have to admit that in the later years, even Candid Camera went downhill. They tried to "redo" the classic bits that Fanny Flag used to pull off in the 60s when it really was great.

Funt spent too much time in front of the cameras himself by then also. It was one of the most popular shows in the 60s so like Howie, most people could recognize him even with a hat and sunglasses on. And then they turned the show over to his son once he died, and it REALLY got lame - the guy had the personality of a speed bump! :rolleyes:

I didn't care for it at all.
