View Full Version : ever die in a dream? snowcreature23 01-29-2009, 01:47 AM Did you ever die in a dream? phoebe7165 01-29-2009, 02:08 AM I don't think I ever have, but I do have dreams of being in an accident. I just had one the other night where I was driving my truck, and my truck started sliding on the ice. It was weird because my reaction to sliding on the ice in my dream was "Here we go", instead of like, screaming. My truck ended up on its side, it was late at night, there weren't many people on the road. My truck was still in one of the travel lanes and I was thinking "I hope the next person who comes driving up sees me" because my 1st concern was that I hope they don't slam into me. Well, have you ever died in a dream, snowcreature? Nighthawk76 01-29-2009, 02:29 AM I've heard differing views on the idea of dying in your dreams. One being that if you die in your dream you're also dying in real life. That's why most of us wake up from the dream before we actually do die. However, I asked my college psychology professoor about this and he said a person could infact die in their dreams. It has never happpend to me though. sara 01-29-2009, 04:03 AM I've never died in one of my dreams. Though a guy I went to school with said he had a dream that he went to his own funeral. That would freak me out completely. Zoneboy 01-29-2009, 04:29 AM I've had a few close-calls but always manage to wake up. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e211/zoneboy/ScreenHunter_06Jan290328.gif Fleet 01-29-2009, 05:30 AM Hasn't happened that I can recall. But maybe I am dreaming that I am alive right now? Mikado 01-29-2009, 07:05 AM I often dream that im falling to my death, but, one of 2 things happens, either I suddenly learn to fly (somehow) or I wake up; so, no.....However, I did dream that a cousin of mine was killed by a car....that morning i phoned her place (Well, it was so real) , but, she was fine. Sharop 01-29-2009, 07:48 AM I once dreamed I was Henry VIII. I was having a sword fight with another person and I fell over. The other guy stabbed me through the heart with his sword. It hurt too - I thought things weren't supposed to hurt in dreams? Another time I dreamed I was Marty McFly (from Back to the Future) and I was being chased through a supermarket. The person chasing me shot me twice in the shoulder but I didn't die. coffield3 01-29-2009, 07:51 AM No sorry, if you die in a dream how do you remember it?? lol :D TripperFan 01-29-2009, 11:41 AM Yes, I've dreamt that I've died - actually several times this past year alone. Supposedly it's supposed to mean more of a "transformation" than the end of your life. The worst though, that I had recently was dreaming of my father's death. We were at the service, I said a few words and then went to hug my father's casket. As I did that, it fell over and his body rolled out and down steps. It was absolutely horrible. I sure woke up quickly from that one. MickeyMac 01-29-2009, 06:11 PM Never dreamed I died but came close. I have had dreams where I am falling and as I am about to hit the ground I wake up. phoebe7165 01-29-2009, 06:13 PM Never dreamed I died but came close. I have had dreams where I am falling and as I am about to hit the ground I wake up. I've noticed alot of people saying that. I don't think I've ever had that dream, either, but I do have this one dream when I am almost fully asleep - I'll be walking and then I trip, and it jolts me awake. Ohio8 01-29-2009, 07:12 PM Three times. Chocoholic 01-29-2009, 07:40 PM I've had dreams where I'm falling or being chased, but I always wake up in time. Mr. Television 01-29-2009, 08:32 PM I've come close a few times. browneyes106 01-29-2009, 11:41 PM I have never had a dream in which I have died. But one of my friends did back when we were in middle school. We rode the same bus and she told me one night she had a dream that bus got into an accident and that died in her arms. She was pretty shaken up when she told me. Yooch 01-29-2009, 11:44 PM I've come close a few times. Same. Hollow 01-30-2009, 12:16 AM a few times. died AND went to hell in one of them  TripperFan 01-30-2009, 12:43 AM a few times. died AND went to hell in one of them  I used to get a terrible, recurring one in grade 5 almost every night. We would be playing "Four Square" outside at recess and the sky would go dark - like night, and stormy and then the face of the devil would appear in the sky -kind of "neon" looking with this booming voice looking directly at me. He'd tell me I was going to hell and then something I don't remember because I would usually wake up crying at that point. Thankfully they finally went away, but the odd time, I'll still get it. I'm alive in them though - but age 10 every time. Mr.Burns 01-31-2009, 12:07 AM I've had those falling dreams but I always wake up before I hit bottom. I've never died in a dream. Dude111 07-12-2021, 11:51 PM I've had a few close-calls but always manage to wake up.I have heard you cannot die in a dream and thats why you wake up,your mind doesnt know how to deal with it so you wake up before you do...... You wouldnt want to anyway ZB!! GentlemanJim 07-13-2021, 11:26 AM Did you ever die in a dream? I have, and here's the weird part. Grew up in Indiana...never set foot in the town of Logansport. Moved away to pursue my career. While living in Los Angeles, I had a dream that I was in Logansport, next to the river, with the railroad bridges arranged just so. An old brick building facing the river had an entry to a stairway next to it's ground floor main entrance. In the dream, I walked up the stairs, and was killed by "bad men". Ten years later, I had moved back to indiana, was out for a Sunday drive, and decided to check out Logansport. It was eerie, because there was the river, there was the railroad bridges, configured exactly as I had dreampt them, ...and lo and behold...there was that old brick building with the "siamese" main entry. I was too spooked at the time to dare entering, but now I really wish I had. Alas, google earth shows that the building exists no more... Dude111 07-13-2021, 12:32 PM Ya I had heard that... People dreaming of exact things....... Interesting for sure........ Caroline13 07-13-2021, 01:48 PM No dying in dreams, but a lot of Wild dreams in the last couple yrs..last night's were doozies again. For me it's the 1mg Melatonin I take and the HGH homeopathic gel I'm using close to 2 yrs....my dreams are more profound than ever. A 9 yr sales job I had seems to come up a lot, that job was a big turningpoint in my life. GentlemanJim 07-13-2021, 01:54 PM I have a few "Wile E. Coyote" type experiences in dreams, where things happen to me that would be impossible to survive. But there really isn't any "after event" continuation, where I have any sentient awareness of being dead. GentlemanJim 07-13-2021, 01:57 PM And, back the first few years after I found sobriety in 2004, I had a few dreams where I was once again "loaded and rollin"...they were actually kinda fun. Caroline13 07-13-2021, 03:26 PM Many of my dreams are I'm dancing and running and fast walking which I have not been able to do for many years. Wishing I could do these again I suppose. SarahBellum 07-13-2021, 04:54 PM I don't think I have died in any of my dreams. I do have a few recurring dreams: In one of my recurring dreams, I am in school and either taking a test I haven't prepared for or having an assignment due that I haven't started on. By the way, I have been out of school for 40 years. In another recurring dream, I am going to my car in a parking lot but my car is gone. I did have a car stolen a long time ago. Another recurring dream involves me driving a car that I had back in the 80s. I have had lots of cars over the years, but I dream about that particular car for some reason. Another recurring dream involves me being in a home or building which has no doors or windows and the only way to get out is to crawl through a very narrow opening in the wall. And finally, I have dreams in which my father is alive. He has been dead for 10 years. Not sure what any of these mean, but if someone can shed some light, let me know. Caroline13 07-13-2021, 05:28 PM If one wants to dig into dream work, there are dream books one can buy. I believe my mom had one years ago and would check out stuff. I don't have enough interest to go deeper, I just accept them and what is. I enjoy my night's sleep as I go to so many places. I also dream often about the life on a typewriter and shorthand world in my many jobs.. I hate these dreams. I'm being told I was a bad student; I KNOW IT! Both deceased parents in dream cast of characters. Father dead 29 years, mother dead 3-1/2 years. |
