It's official! On March 4th I'll be moving into my very first apartment. It's way past time since I have been ready to move out since I was 25! I love my family and all, but being over 30 I think it is well past time that I lived on my own. And, of course, I'm very happy about it. :)

The apartment is in a town called Hoffman Estates which is located between Schaumburg (where I currently live) and Palatine (where I work).

Good luck!

You're going to love living on your own. I finally got my first place by myself last year, and its been great.

I wish I could... It's just too hard in San Diego with the housing prices and having to be near my work as well.

I also think that Condos are expensive too.

Also, I don't want my mom to get lonely or anything since she owns a home.

You lived with your parents for 30 years? Why didn't you move out when you were 25 years old?

Congratulations Mike. You're going to love it. I flew the coop when I was 20, and I remember just loving it.

Actually, I have been living with my parents for 32 and 1/2 years. It's a rather long story, but here is the shortened version. When I graduated from high school I was already only two months shy of being 19. I also took the fall semester off and worked full time. I was really excited to be out of high school and just wanted to work fulltime for a while. I finally started college in Jan 1996, but I started not knowing what I really wanted to study. I also had great difficulty with math and science courses. Anyway, I ended up majoring in eary American History and after six and a half years I got my BA. At that point I was almost 26 years old. My first post college job was as a teacher's aid in a junior high. However, the school had to cut back and since I was the last hired I was let go after only a year. That put me at 27. It took me almsot two years to find a new job! As you probably know, the more you are out of work the harder it becomes to find a job. After two years of enemploment, my college diploma wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. When I went to job interivews all they were concerned with was that I hadn't worked in two years. That ddin't care that I had gone to college. That being the case I had to do a coupe of years working low paying jobs, before finally getting a job at the college I currently work at. And now I am making the sort of money it requires to pay rent and all that good stuff.

Even though I am not big on parties, I actually am considering having one. :)
