Hi,

I am new to the boards, and am very pleased to find that there are so many other die-hard UM fans who like to discuss previous cases. I was hoping that someone here could help me identify a particular case. This case involved a bank robber whose calling card was to shoot the bank's surveillance cameras after commiting a robbery. If I remember correctly, the guy was also left-handed.

Does anyone here remember this case, and if so, the name of the bank robber? Were there any updates to the case? Since the guy did not do a good job of concealing his identity, it seems like the police would have caught him by now. Thanks in advance for any info.

I remember that case really well. Unfortunately, I don't have any additional info. It's just like you said - he would come in, rob the bank and then shoot out the cameras AFTER his picture had been recorded. There were witnesses who saw his car and in some cases got plate numbers, but they always turned out to be stolen. I think the FBI connected the same unidentified man with a number of small town bank robberies on the east coast going back to the seventies.

I know I passed some of the towns he hit while on a recent drive from Florida to North Carolina and back. I saw the exits on the interstate and remembered some of the names. I wonder if this guy wasn't local and just took a drive down the interstate getting off at random exists and hitting the banks.

I don't remember if he had a nickname, or if he did it was not revealed on UM.

Couldn't tell you if he's been caught either. Maybe Spike will rerun it. That is probably our only hope in knowing if it's been solved.
