I'm sure this case has been mentioned or posted here before, but I can't seem to find it. [I promise I looked at not only the episode guides/summaries, but also through at least 11 pages of threads trying to track this down - in any case, sorry if it has been mentioned time and again, I'm a new user!]

Anyway, I recall this segment from the old "Unsolved Mysteries", but I recently saw it again on the Spike version. A man was giving a stranger a lift when suddenly the stranger pulled out a weapon and demanded he drive the truck to a certain location. The two men got out of the vehicle and the driver ended up confusing his captor and driving away. Fearing that the attacker would follow him home, he made sure to drive around before making his way to his house. When he finally did make it home, he was horrified to find that the attacker was leaving his mother's house (who lived nearby). The police were called and his mother was found murdered in her home (presumably by the son's pursuer). The son was a suspect for awhile, but he maintains his innocence and claims it was a mysterious man who did it.

I was wondering if there was any additional information on this case or updates? It was still listed as unsolved in the recent episode and the murderer was listed as wanted.

This case has always haunted me - especially the strange (and incredibly unfortunate) coincidence that the murderer happened upon the man's mother.

Charles Holden was the man who picked up the hitchhiker. they did eventually find the man responsible for his mothers murder.

That's a relief! That story always haunted me. His mother was completely defenseless and it seemed so creepy that the murderer happened upon her. I'll be looking into the story more now that I have a grasp of the victim's name, thank you!
