I found this link that details the appeal of Steve Shore. Shore was featured on the Final Appeal program. This is the United States Court of Appeals opinion so there is a lot of legal speak, but a pretty decent description of the crime is given in the first few paragraphs. Hopefully Spike will run this segment soon, as that may be our only hope of seeing it.

Strangely, he is not listed with the Illinois Department of Corrections. I wonder if he was released, paroled or died.

For those that don't know he was eventually released. I have heard that he is currently in a near vegetative state at a nursing home. I'm unsure whether it was the result of a beating or not.

This is of course one of those Final Appeal segments that never made it to Lifetime but Spike has ran it pretty recently. I bumped this up because in the segment Shores' attorney was Andrea Lyons and I saw yesterday on the news that she is now a part of Casey Anthony's defense team.

that is sad about Shores current state. I definitely think he is innocent.

Andrea Lyons came off as a complete ditz in the segment. She seemed like she was pretty new to the legal profession at the time. Her statement that she should have gone with a jury verdict instead of a bench verdict made me want to shout at her: "an innocent guy spent 13 years behind bars because of your mistake!" Why on Earth she thought that was a good idea is beyond me.

If that information about Steve is true, that's very sad.

I got the impression that his attorney was relatively new and in over her head. To her credit, she did fight for him after he was convicted.

The segment said that one of Steve's sisters was killed, possibly by the gang as a retaliatory measure. That's very sad. I think the Shores were one of those families with bad luck. Like The Marshalls.

I can't recall right now...was anyone else charged (the El Ruk'n gang members who lied about Steve) with the murder of Garrison Hester after Steve was released?

Yes. The two gang members in question were arrested and eventually convicted of the murder.

Thanks for that update. Shouldn't Shores' Alford Plea be lifted and his name totally be cleared then?
