This is the network that used to air The Wonder Years, Who's the Boss, and Growing Pains. Now they air movies in primetime five nights out of seven. ohno:

After a good January schedule, Febraury is terrible. WAYYYYYYYY too many movies, where it's getting to the point of absurd. First they added Friday movies, then it was Total Theater Thursday. Next, they added Friday afternoon movie repeats. Then they added a second movie repeat to Fridays. Then we had Thursday afternoon movies. Now, they've added a movie to Wednesday primetime.

IT'S CRAZY! I've never been a fan of all these movies, but they're airing them 5 days of the week.

On a positive note, nice to see Drew Carey getting the spotlight in afternoons - 10 airings a week is fantastic.

I'm thinking we should no longer be shocked at what ION does with its schedule.

That's true - it's too bad that after a good first month of the year, things are already declining.

When are they going to add more hours? They really need to add that 11pm hour to the schedule. I wouldn't mind seeing 3pm added as well.

6am to Midnight would be good.

Maybe it was the boost from James Bond on Thursdays, but ION posted some good numbers last week:

That is pretty good. The Thursday primetime movie probably did well. I wonder how all the movie repeats do, though.

Just so ION continues to air "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet", I'm not complaining.

(West Palm Beach, Fla. – January 27, 2009) – ION Television will launch in high definition (HD) providing a fully enhanced HD simulcast of the newly rebranded “Positively Entertaining” network, beginning February 16, 2009. The announcement was made today by Joseph Koker, President, Television Station Group, ION Media Networks.

ION Television HD will initially roll out to 20 markets within ION’s 55 market footprint – including top DMA’s like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago – with additional roll-outs to occur throughout the year. The first phase of the ION TV HD launch will reach over 46 million households. ION Media Networks’ digital TV brands, Qubo, a multilingual kids network that champions literacy and positive values, and ION Life, a digital network dedicated to active lifestyles and personal growth, will also be launched across digital platforms in high definition later in 2009.

“Ahead of the scheduled transition from analog to digital broadcasting, we at ION have made significant investments in upgrading our system as well as content. These investments will bring heightened picture quality and a robust inventory of programming to our viewers,” said Koker. “The viewers we serve will now enjoy the full benefits of DTV technology. We’re also excited to further extend this opportunity to our distribution partners and advertisers.”

Viewers can look forward to a mix of compelling television series, theatrical and made-for-television movies and specials on ION Television HD. The ION Television network features hit programs from CBS Television, NBC Universal, RHI Entertainment, Sony Pictures Television, Twentieth Television and Warner Bros., among others.

ION Television in HD will be launched from its newly designed, state-of-the-art transmission platform via expanded satellite transponder capacity. That national distribution will then be delivered over-the-air via DTV broadcast, cable, telco-TV and satellite. The network will feature native and up-converted HD programming, and will be carried on all 60 of ION Media Network’s television stations around the country.

I guess nothing really changes though? No word of programming expansion or properly utilizing the WB/Sony deals?? At least I can see the Sham-wow guy and infomercials in HD......lol....but I guess I'll never see Ann Jillian (It's A Living" or other shows available to them in HD or anyother form.

I cant wit to see what Ion Network Programming look's like in High Definition where I live Ion will be on Cox Cable Channel 749.

Things are not going to look any better unless the programs were shot in hi-def or transferred to Hi-def....this is all a scam....16:9 TV sets and HI-def are for DVD movie watching and LIVE Sporting events....most all shows are still not in HI-def and are 4:3 ratio. This is all hype! Compare a show like Dr. Phil for example, switch back and forth between HD & non HD broadcasts, in Hi-def, it looks clearer and you get to see the cameraman and camera on the side of the 16:9 ratio....whoopee! Everything just gives you the perspective you are further away and viewing from the studio audience, same with the Leno show.

NBC's recent miniseries Last Templar (2009) will air on ION on Feb. 7 and 15 from 7-11pm. Also, ER is back on ION. Airing Mondays at 8pm starting Feb. 9, replacing one of the NCIS airings. ER will start with the season 12 episode "No Place to Hide."

Does ION have the rights to every season of ER? And if not, which seasons do they have the rights to, and from where will they start?

And out of curiousity, are only TNT and ION able to air the show, or if another channel wanted to, can they also pick up the rights to it? I think it's a shame its only on once a day. With the amount of episodes they are, TNT could be airing 3-4 like some of their other shows.

As mentioned already, ION only has access to seasons 11-14 of ER (season 15 will be available to ION in the fall). TNT has all seasons. And no other cable network can air it as long as TNT has it. ION is a broadcast station. I posted already what episode ION will start with above.

I am going to miss The Monday Night airing of NCIS.

I clearly said ER will replace only ONE of the NCIS airings. And the first post in this thread has the updated schedule and clearly lists NCIS Mondays at 9 and 10.

I think the only shows they have that were taped in HD are Boston Legal, NCIS, and ER. Everything else is in standard definition.

What's weird is that they claim that qubo and Ion Life will be in high definition. I don't think any of the programming on those channels is available in high definition...and even if it were, the signal would have to be compressed so much that picture quality would suffer terribly.

I was surprised to see some ION program numbers last week that showed that 'NCIS' Monday January 19th at 9 pm was ION's top-rated program of the week with an audience of 1,873,000 P2+ viewers, and the 10 pm episode the same night attracted 1,755,000 P2+ viewers. By way of comparison, the Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday movies were all down in the 350-600,000 viewer range.

I think the NCIS 1,873,000 viewer delivery is an all-time ION network high. Pav, have you heard anything from the network about it?

I haven't heard, but NCIS and Boston are still doing well. I think they are testing ER again. It was a big deal for them, so might as well try again.

So it's the movies that's bringing the ratings down - then I don't get at all why ION seems at add an extra movie to the schedule every couple months. And I also don't get why they'd rather cut NCIS down to 2 hours if it's doing so well. If they wanted to relaunch ER, wouldn't it have been better to air it after NCIS???

ION has pulled the movie The Diplomat for Sunday, and replaced it with MASH from 7-11pm instead. MASH will also air its regular 6-7pm airings on this date as well.

Good. This is where ION stopped airing it last time. They started randomly showing a few season 13 episodes and then stopped airing the show in general.

I understand what your saying, but I'm not THAT bothered by the one airing a day on TNT. TNT did air the show in two hour blocks every weekday for 8 years. And we only have five more seasons to go before the series is complete on DVD.

I understand what you mean. One airing a week is very frustrating. IMO, why can't they just go back to airing all 3 shows Monday-Wednesday from 8-11pm? Either that, or if ER does do well on Mondays, give it 8-11pm on Wednesdays. That way, NCIS can be all Monday, Boston Legal all Tuesday, and ER Wednesday.

Discworld, a magical realm, has got its first tourist! Rincewind (David Jason), an incompetent and cynical wizardry student, has recently been expelled from Unseen University and been given the task of guiding Twoflower (Sean Astin) through the city state of Ankh Morpork. The two are forced to flee the city after a terrible fire and are sent on a fantastical journey across the Disc, which is unknowingly being controlled by a board game played by the Gods. Week of Feb. 23 will see a schedule change. We're not sure yet if it will run into March, since March isn't out, but it seems likely:

THAT'S ENOUGH, ION!

That's a lot of Boston Legal. ER must have done well enough on Mondays to get an extra airing. And I'm glad to see Family Feud and Steve Harvey cut down. I think in the coming months, these 2 shows will be getting replaced by something else.

I'm really enjoying Drew Carey at 4pm - glad to see its becoming a permanent fixture.

It looks like more Warner movies are airing now. Fridays for sure are replacing RHI and one Saturday even. And a MASH marathon again on one Sunday. See the first post for full updates and what the movie schedule looks like.

Hey I was wondering I know that Ion is going to Debut there High Definition Channel on Monday, Feburary 16, 2009 does that mean we will get the other Channel's as well like qubo Ion Life and The religious channel The Worship Channe

Isn't the RHI contract up sometime this year? I don't seeing ION renewing in terms of giving them Fri-Sun another 2 years. I'm sure they will keep a content deal for new original movies and the RHI library.

RHI expires in the summer.

Most Cable Systems already have those channels but Comcast Olathe/MO doesn't yet. How about them in HD to?
Other Game Shows other then Family Fued would also be good.
