Chargers close on Wilks

The Chargers are close to hiring Steve Wilks as their secondary coach, sources said.

Wilks was fired by the Chicago Bears last week. Wilks served under Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera when Rivera was the Bears'coordinator. Wilks was in San Diego on Saturday.

The Chargers fired secondary coach Bill Bradley and assistant secondary coach Kevin Ross earlier this week.

The team hopes to hire replacements this week for Ross, offensive line coach Jack Henry and tight ends coach Clancy Barone, who also were let go.
