As the rest of you I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Paul Benedict at the relatively young age of 70 and I too was surprised that he wasn't even half British. Although you could tell his British accent was not the best on the Jeffersons you thought maybe he was at least part British.

But I was also very surprised to hear that he suffered from acromegaly, which is a pituitary disease that can result in gigantism or being VERY tall like 7 FEET. Obviously he was nowhere near that tall but he looked about 6'3" or 6'4".

We actually may be overestimating his height because most of the cast was pretty short. Franklin Cover looked about 6 feet 2 or so but now that I just checked he was 6'4"! Wow! I don't think he looked quite that tall.

So I guess that mean Mr. Bently was about the same since those two seemed about the same height. What do you think?

the standard doorframe is 6' -8" so you can make a rough estimate of his height from there

It was in my neighborhood in New York City. I believe he lived near me, because I spotted him on more than one occasion.

I didn't say anything to him during our brief encounter at the corner. I always chicken out and clam up when i see a celebrity on the street.
