Yes, you read that right. 50 TV shows from 1950. That's 1950 the year, not 1950s the decade. In 1950, Harry Truman was the US president, the Detroit Red Wings were the Stanley Cup champions, and the Korean War was just getting started. This was one year before "I Love Lucy" debuted, 2 years before the CBC helped to launch TV in Canada, and 5 years before rock and roll hit the radio airwaves for good. TV itself would still play second fiddle to radio in terms of how people preferred to be entertained (but not for much longer), yet this was also the year that many stars that had been popular on radio for many seasons decided to switch to TV and the results were often magical. The good news for Fifties TV fans today is that the most popular shows from this era, long thought to be forgotten or destroyed, are now available online through one of my favourite TV websites called TV4U.com which I've talked about before but is worth mentioning again because they keep adding great series to the site every couple of weeks or so along with more episodes of old favorites that are already on board. Some of these series mentioned in the following article have been on the site for a long time but there are many others on there that I wasn't even aware of. This article should help since it has a complete list of shows that were on the networks at the time that you can now watch online anytime you wish.
